TDM City Women's Union: For the quality of the living environment

With many deeds, like: stepping up the propaganda; developing practical models, TDM City Women's Union has contributed to changing environmental protection behaviors for the good quality of the living environment.

Communication is one important tasks that was strengthened by TDM City Women's Union while implementing the campaign of “5 no, 3 clean", namely “clean house, clean kitchen, clean lane”. The union also delivered 15,230 documents of environmental protection, 250 handbooks on the women’s role in environmental protection to all affiliates; organized 4 skit contests and selected best skits for the province-level contest of environmental protection… Thereby, the union has developed and implemented many good and creative practices having good effects on the campaign.

Women in Chanh My ward have contributed to building a green - clean - beautiful environment

Specifically, in 5 years, the club of “For a city without garbage”, club of “Women practice urban civilized lifestyle”, Chanh My ward Women's Union did many little things but having large impacts on people's consciousness. Nguyen Thi Hong living in My Hao 1 quarter said, apart from incorporating propaganda contents with regular meetings, on big occasions, the union usually sanitized the environment, cleaned bushes on rural roads, canals etc. and mobilized people to collect, litter garbage at right places. In addition, the campaign also encouraged affiliates to register “Exemplary roads”, established women-run environmental groups, waste sorting clubs… Therefore, Chanh My ward is now greener, cleaner, and more beautiful.

Not only Chanh My ward Women's Union but also other unions have actively built up “Exemplary union” with prescribed criteria, like: membership development reached 75%; 80% or more members participated in organized activities; 100% of member households had garbage cans; 100% of member households did not encroach sidewalks for trading.

The model of "Green roof at Phu Loi ward" had initially only 15 members, but now is 20 members. The purpose of the “green roof” is to encourage households to utilize vacant lands around their house for tree planting, creating  a green - clean – beautiful space. In just a short time, this model created positive changes in female members and local people’s awareness, behaviors.

"Women join hands to build exemplary roads” obtained the registration of 100% quarter unions and completed tasks, like: 100% of households flew the national flag on big holidays; did not encroach sidewalks; planted trees to form green space; ensured social order, urban sanitation ... Affiliates managed 39 routes, gave 268 propaganda sessions with the participation of 17,251 people, sanitized 98,210m of road. Women’s Union of Hiep Thanh, Phu Loi, Phu My ward also developed “Nutritious vegetable garden”, gave trainings of clean vegetable cultivation to 160 women and 140 households have been implemented green food models to supply clean and safe vegetables to family meals, contributed to improving public health ...

More and more practical models developed by TDM City Women’s Union and affiliates have brought good effects on environmental protection activities and for the good living environment of today and tomorrow.
