TDM, Phu Giao mark 75th traditional day of the Vietnamese elderly
TDM city’s Association of the Elderly, on June 6, held a get-together to mark the 75th traditional day of the Vietnamese elderly (June 6, 1941-June 6, 2016), reviewed its activities in the first half of 2016 and implement orientations, tasks for the rest of the year.
At the get-together, delegates reviewed the 45-year tradition of the Vietnamese elderly, extended congratulations to all members of the association while acknowledging their contributions to the local urban development and construction. The association in the first half of the year admitted another 531 new members, bringing the total number of members so far to 14,506; spent VND73mln on congratulating 235 members on their longevity; provided free eye check-up for 31 members and took 1,714 members to revolutionary historical relic sites.

At the get-together, delegates reviewed the 75-year tradition of the Vietnamese elderly. The Vietnamese elderly always held an important role in each historical period, greatly contributing to the national liberation cause. In the current context, they have continued upholding their role, joining hands with the Party and State to successfully realizing the set targets.
On this occasion, the organizers awarded the mementoes “For the cause of taking care for the elderly and upholding their role” to 6 individuals who made contributions to activities of the association over the past years.
