The trend of transitioning from traditional business to digital platforms is becoming increasingly popular and is considered an effective solution to help businesses penetrate and expand export markets in the context of Vietnam's deep integration with the global economy. Currently, Binh Duong is focusing on promoting digital transformation to develop e-commerce.
Development priority
Over the past time, the Department of Industry and Trade has implemented many activities to develop e-commerce, supporting businesses to keep up with new business trends, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives, and production facilities. Mr. Nguyen Thai Phu, Director of T.P Food Trading Company Limited, shares: "Together with the application of modern technology in the production line to enhance product quality, through trade promotion programs, the company actively seeks customers by placing products on e-commerce platforms, contributing to expanding the market, creating strategic business relationships with partners."

E-commerce has become an essential trend, part of the development priority of Binh Duong. In the first 4 months of 2024, the total retail sales of goods and service revenue of the province reached 81.177 billion VND. The Department of Information and Communications, the average e-commerce proportion of the province is 8%. Binh Duong ranks third in the Vietnam E-commerce Index 2024 with 51.3 points. On the e-commerce page - binhduongtrande.vn, there are currently 544 businesses and 2,990 products participating in transactions.
Mr. Tran Van Tung, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that although the e-commerce market is developing quite rapidly, there are still many existing limitations. Specifically, the development scale among localities is not uniform, the use of cash in e-commerce transactions is still quite common, the unequal competition between domestic e-commerce platforms and foreign platforms, and the trust of consumers in online transactions is not high. Next to that, activities of delivery, safety, cyber security and personal data protection in electronic commerce transactions also pose significant challenges for businesses. These difficulties require the collaboration of regulatory agencies, scientists, to jointly find development solutions for businesses, especially those in the process of transformation.
To promote digital transformation
At the scientific conference with the theme "Development of digital economy and digital society in the context of industrialization and modernization of Binh Duong province", a representative of the Department of Information and Communications stated that currently Binh Duong has a core digital economy of 7.41%, digital industry of 3.92%, the proportion of digital technology in GRDP reaches 11.34%, ranking 14th in the country in terms of digital technology, and 12th in the region. At the same time, the province will promote the development of the information technology industry to make a significant contribution to the digital development and GRDP growth of the province, striving to turn Binh Duong into a digital transformation center of the Southeast region.

At the same time, support startups registering in the technology field providing digital solutions to serve the balanced economic and social development between urban and rural areas, integrating digital technology into all aspects of life, economy, and society. Assoc. Prof. PhD. Ta Van Loi of National Economics University: Binh Duong needs to build a digital environment for provincial e-commerce, develop diverse forms of e-commerce, ensure prevention of commercial fraud and infringement of intellectual property rights on the cyberspace.
