Tens of billion preserved for care-taking offered to working people

Continual effort to take care of workers' lives is one of the key contents that trade unions at all levels will implement in the coming time. During the 11th Binh Duong provincial Trade Union Congress of 2023-2028 term, trade unions at all levels in the province also carried out many meaningful projects with focus on taking care of workers with a total budget up to tens of billions of VND.

More shelters for workers

The 11th Binh Duong provincial Trade Union Congress of 2023-2028 term has just been successfully held  with report that during the past term of 2018-2023, leaders of trade unions at all levels in the province with flexibility, enthusiasm, and high responsibility have carried out many practical activities to care for workers. That is to regularly support, visit, and take care of cases in hardship, illness, and accidents to support the construction of "Trade Union Shelter", to offer medical examination and treatment, physical and mental care during holidays. As a result, more than 5 million union members and workers have been supported with an amount of more than VND 2,296 billion from public financial sources, union budget and donations.

In particular, the fund to support workers in particularly difficult circumstances and the "Trade Union Shelter" program launched by the provincial Trade Union are increasingly growing to have helped thousands of cases overcome difficulties and build homes to stabilize their lives. Recently, during the 11th Binh Duong Provincial Trade Union Congress of 2023-2028 term, donations from delegates have amounted to a total budget of more than VND 900 million in 2 sources to help the provincial trade union have more resources to take care of workers.

It is known that the Support Fund for Workers in Particularly Difficult Circumstances was established by the provincial Trade Union in 2020 to promptly help workers in particularly difficult circumstances, illness, and accidents. To date, the fund has helped 869 union members and workers with a total amount of over VND 8.1 billion for VND 4-10 million on each case. During the 2018-2023 term, provincial trade unions at all levels also mobilized socialization and received support from agencies, units and businesses with a total budget of more than VND 1.3 billion to give away 17 shelters to children of workers and officials in the province.

Nguyen Kim Loan, Chairwoman of the provincial Trade Union, said: "The support from the delegates will help many workers overcome difficulties as well as build more shelters for workers in the coming time." Immediately after the congress, the provincial Trade Union will organize a delegation to visit and give gifts from the donated money to union members and disadvantaged workers in all districts, towns and cities. The above activity is also a message sent to union members and workers in the province about the high sense of responsibility of the trade unions at all levels in continuing their efforts to take care of workers in the new term.

The myriad meaningful activities

Previously, to celebrate the 11th Binh Duong provincial Trade Union Congress of 2023-2028 term, trade unions at all levels in the province carried out many meaningful projects with focus on taking care of workers in a difficult context. Specifically, the Thu Dau Mot city Trade Union donated 10,000 notebooks, estimated to be worth VND 40 million, to children who are children of workers and trade union members in difficult circumstances. Ben Cat town Trade Union organized free medical examination, treatment, and medicine for union members and workers in difficult circumstances at grassroots unions with 400 meals (each was worth VND 1.5 million). Di An city Trade Union mobilized donations, supports, and sponsors supplies, gifts, and money for the "2023 Labor Market" worth about VND 300 million.

In addition to providing material support and taking care of workers' children so they can study in the new school year, many trade unions in the province also signed programs for medical examination, treatment, and medicine distribution for workers with the costs up to tens of billions of VND. The case was the Bau Bang district Trade Union that signed a program to coordinate with the district Medical Center to organize health checks for union members and local workers with 5,000 tickets worth VND 200,000 each. The provincial textile and garment industry union organizes free medical examination, treatment, and medicine for union members and workers in difficult circumstances at affiliated grassroots unions with 3,000 benefits equivalent to VND 4.5 billion.

Binh Duong Industrial Park Trade Union signed a cooperation agreement with Tin Duc General Hospital to deploy a support package for medical examination and free medicine for trade union members and workers in difficult circumstances at affiliated facility with 30,000 servings equivalent to an amount of VND 45 billion. The Trade Union of Ben Cat town Industrial Parks awarded 17 "Savings books for workers" with a total amount of nearly VND 105 million to 17 union members in difficult circumstances. As for the provincial Trade Union, it has built 5 union shelter projects for workers with housing difficulties at a total amount of more than VND 520 million. Coordination has been made for the implementation of power transmission line construction projects carried out by the local union of Binh Duong Electricity Company with a total value of over VND 10 billion.

According to the provincial Trade Union, the total value of works to celebrate the 11th Binh Duong provincial Trade Union Congress of 2023-2028 term is up to VND 60 billion along with singing contests and sports competitions to create a cultural and artistic playground for workers. Trade unions of districts, towns and cities and many grassroots organized competitions, sports festivals, and created playgrounds to take care of the spiritual life of workers across the province.
