Textbook market is kicked off early

Textbook market of 2013-2014 school year was kicked off since May 15th. Provincial bookstores are full of parents coming to buy books for their children. 
Parents were buying textbooks for children at BD bookstoreMs. Le Nguyen Lan Ngoc, who was choosing textbooks of the 6th grade at Binh Duong bookstore, explained: “Although it is still in summer, I buy textbooks of next year for my child. Last year, I had to rummage around many bookstores because of buying books at the last minute”. This was a common thought of parents. They bought not only a set of textbook but also extra textbooks of some main subjects for summer classes. Bookstores have prepared sets of packaged textbooks as well as increased personnel during peak hour to serve customers.The wholesaler Binh Duong Book – School equipment JSC is at the present congested with book agents. This year, the company has 2.4 mln of textbooks, reference books ready for distribution since last April. Deputy manager of BD bookstore Ms. Tran Thi Anh Nguyet said, textbook prices of this year is relative stable, except for ones of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade increasing by VND3,000 – 4,000 each pack. Exercise books of high schools are innovated totally, thus students have not bought yet.Parents also buy other school supplies, notably notebooks. Student of the 11th grade Nguyen Ai Nhu believed that she could freely do shopping because of abundant early types of goods. Bookstores had prepared a great number of beautiful notebooks of all kinds. A representative of BD bookstore said, best-selling ABC notebooks of Fahasa company were priced at VND6,700 – 9,000 each 96-page notebook; popular notebooks were also favored and priced at VND4,800 – 6,700 each.Due to price stabilization, provincial pupils are able to buy books, school equipment with prices below by 10 – 15% of market prices. 2 organizations participating in price stabilization are Binh Duong Book – School equipment JSC and Binh Duong General Culture JSC, which are ready to distribute to 75 retailers. Total value of inventory of the 2 companies from April to October 31st is VND27.74 bln including VND 14 bln preferential loans approved by provincial government.
