The new academic year 2024-2025 is about to begin, at this time many parents take the opportunity to buy textbooks for their children. In order to ensure that all students have enough textbooks to start the new school year, educational institutions, publishers, and book distribution units have made continuous efforts to supply them.

Customers refer to and purchase textbooks at Bach Dang bookstore, Binh Chuan ward (Thuan An city).

Book price reduced 5-10%

The academic year 2024-2025 is the final year to complete the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program instead of studying two programs in parallel as before. Currently, educational institutions have announced the textbook list to parents and students to purchase for the new school year. With each new school year, preparing complete textbooks is one of the top concerns of parents and schools.

In recent days, at bookstores large and small in the province have been in bustling atmosphere. To prepare for the new school year, many bookstores have announced discounts of 5-10% for textbooks and 20% for educational equipment and supplies.

According to reporters, at the Bach Dang bookstore, all types of textbooks are fully available, with clear updated prices to help parents and students easily choose. Bach Dang bookstore offers a 5% discount for textbooks, a 30% discount for reference books, and discounts from 12-20% for school supplies. Many bookstores have also implemented a series of attractive promotions for the back-to-school time.

Reducing the prices of textbooks and bookstores launching promotional programs help many families save part of the expenses at the beginning of the school year. Mrs. Tran Thi Huong in Binh An ward (Di An city) shared: "Before entering the new school year, the concern of many families is the various expenses such as books, uniforms, learning equipment. The implementation of promotional programs and discounts on textbooks by bookstores has somewhat helped parents reduce the burden."

Mrs. Pham Thi Giang, who lives in Binh Chuan Ward (Thuan An city), said she was quite confused about buying books for her child who is entering first grade this year. However, when she found out that the school supports book purchases, she registered at the school. According to Giang, this helps parents save time and not worry too much about the quality of textbooks, especially not worrying about mixing up different sets of books.

Coordination made to assist school students

Less than a month from now, the new academic year 2024-2025 will officially begin. Starting from this academic year, instead of each province choosing a set of textbooks, schools will have the autonomy to select ones that are suitable for their students and the actual conditions of the schools.

Textbooks are displayed and sold in large quantities by bookstores, ensuring the needs of parents and students

Most schools choose textbooks based on previous years' experience to facilitate teaching and students' learning.

In order to support parents and students in buying textbooks for the new school year, many schools have acted as intermediaries, connecting and supplying books. This approach provides convenience for parents and avoids purchasing textbooks of uncertain quality. After agreeing on the choice of textbooks, schools also allow students and parents to register for books according to their needs, on a voluntary basis.

At Nguyen Thi Minh Khai School (Thu Dau Mot city) has announced the list of textbooks to be used in the 2024-2025 academic year on the school's electronic information pages and notified each parent. Mr. Tu Quoc Thanh, the school principal, said that because it is the first year following the new program, students and parents in grade 9 are still not familiar with buying textbooks according to the new program. Therefore, the school will support grade 9 to buy textbooks for the new school year. Currently, about 80% of grade 9 parents have registered to buy books at the school. After compiling the list, the school will collaborate with Phuong Nam bookstore to provide complete textbooks for the students. For those who do not register to buy books at the school, parents can proactively go to bookstores in the province to buy textbooks according to the list announced by the school.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Tho, the store manager of Binh Duong Bookstore (Phu Cuong Ward, Thu Dau Mot city), said that in order to meet the needs of customers, the bookstore has a full range of textbooks, reference books, and study materials to serve the new school year. For textbooks, parents and students only need to provide the school's published textbook list to the bookstore and receive advice and guidance from the bookstore staff to make a complete selection.

Ministry of Education and Training informs that the Vietnam Education Publishing House has adjusted the prices of reprinted textbooks (grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11) and established the prices of textbooks for grades 5, 9, 12 (first published year) according to the reduced price structure of reprinted textbooks. The cover prices of the book sets have been reduced by about 10%.

Reducing the price of textbooks is to implement the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training on tightly controlling production costs, reducing costs to lower the price of textbooks, supporting consumers, and ensuring social security.
