Miss Phuc finished the race at the National Stadium in Singapore in 1hr, 42minures, 35 seconds, surpassing other competitors but not quite enough to book a spot in next year’s Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
“I’m so happy to get a good result,” said Miss Phuc. “I am grateful to all those who have had my back. Their support gave me strength and I was able to stay strong right until the end.”
Miss Phuc said she looks forward to having another opportunity to book a spot at the Rio Olympics this coming June.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc on April 28 won the first gold medal for Vietnam at the Singapore Open Track and Field Championships in race walking by capturing the women’s 20-km bronze.
