The 11th Ben Cat town Party Congress: To develop Ben Cat as an industrial – urban center

Morning August 25^th, Ben Cat town Party Committee convened the 11^th Party Congress (2015-2020 tenure). Mr. Pham Van Canh, Deputy Secretary of provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of Peoples’ Council; Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu, Deputy Secretary of provincial Party Standing Committee; representatives of provincial Party Standing Committee; Vietnamese heroic mothers, 300 delegates representing 2,610 Party members of 37 cells attended the conference.

Representatives elected Ben Cat Party Executive Committee 2010-2015 tenure.

Opening the conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh Thuy, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Ben Cat Party Committee, emphasized: during the last tenure, Party Committee, government and people of Ben Cat town sought to successfully implement the 10^th Party Resolution, obtain encouraging results on economic- cultural – social, defense - security field; contributing to strengthening the people's confidence in the Party's renewal process, encouraging people, economic entities to contribute to the industrialization and modernization cause of the country, of the province and of the town. “These results are fundamental and important, but tasks in the next term are also heavy. The congress must try their best to set up appropriate targets, solutions to develop Ben Cat as an industrial – urban center in the future”.

Presenting political report draft of 2015-2020 tenure, Ms. Nguyen Hong Khanh, Deputy Secretary of town Party Committee, Chairwoman of People’s Committee, said, in the last tenure, local economic condition continued to grow steadily, rapidly, and shift to right directions. Namely, total production value achieved over VND278,000 billion, increasing 2.67 times compared with the previous tenure; annual average growth rate reached 18.91%, in which industrial production increased 16.94%; services increased 33%; agriculture increased 2.41%. The economic structure towards industry (83.7%), services (15.73%), agriculture (0.57%). Average GDP per capita reached VND62.8 million / person / year.

New rural construction was tied to agricultural restructuring towards urban agriculture, high-tech agriculture. Activities to take care of policy beneficiaries, create jobs were performed well; poor households number dropped significantly, people's live was improved. Infrastructure planning and construction was accelerated. Political security, social order and safety were maintained.

In the coming term, Ben Cat Party Committee put forward targets: accelerating the pace of industrial development; industrial development must be linked to urban and services development, ensuring the harmonious link between economic regions; developing economic condition rapidly and sustainably on all fields, facilitating social and cultural development, implementing social welfare policies strengthening defense – security, maintaining political security, social order and safety; completing socio-economic infrastructure; create a link between rural and urban areas; attracting investments, especially in high-tech, large projects; increasing the proportion of services supporting manufacture to develop key industrial sectors; cultivating human resources as the objective and driving force in the development; becoming a district under Binh Duong City until 2020.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Pham Van Canh, Deputy Secretary of provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of Peoples’ Council appreciated achievements of Ben Cat town. Mr. Canh also stressed on some key issues in the future, such as: defining the precise role, potentiality in provincial common development orientation; determining that Ben Cat town would be a key locality for industrial development in the next 5 years. Ben Cat town should mobilize all resources to develop faster, more comprehensively, and sustainably.

On this occasion, provincial Party Standing Committee awarded Emulation Flag to Ben Cat Party Committee for outstanding achievements in the 2010-2015 tenure. The congress also elected 43 cadres to Ben Cat Party Executive Committee 2010-2015 tenure.
