The 7th Congress of the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients in the province

On May 17, the provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients held its 7th Congress of Delegates in 2022-2027 tenure. Attending the congress was Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Standing Member, Head of the provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization, Chairman of the provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee; Ms. Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong, Deputy Chairwoman of the provincial People's Council.

The collectives receive certificates of merit from the Central Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Orphans of Vietnam

During the 2016-2021 tenure, the Association at all levels mobilized the Association's fund to reach more than VND 42.3 billion. The Association has implemented a number of programs such as support to build and repair 137 charitable houses; 7,706 scholarships awarded; one-time medical assistance for 104 people offered; vocational training to create jobs for people with disabilities, the poor and nearly-poor.

In the new term, the Association strives to mobilize the Association's fund to reach VND 25 billion; maintaining and developing medical assistance and transportation assistance programs; living improvement; livelihood support, poverty reduction; at the same time, it continues to implement successful coordinated programs to help people with disabilities, orphans and poor patients.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee for term VII with 25 members; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh was elected to hold the position of Chairwoman of the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients in the new term.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc highly appreciated the efforts, solidarity, creativity and dynamism of the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients in the province in the past term. He suggested the Association continue to promote the propaganda of undertakings, guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and State, contributing to changing social awareness of all levels, sectors and of the disabled and orphans themselves. The promotion of socialization by innovating the content and form, increasing the effectiveness of social mobilization work even more so that together with the state budget, better support for people with disabilities, young people, orphans and poor patients and others in hardship.

On the occasion, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc called on units, businesses and benefactors to continue promoting the tradition of solidarity and helping to stand side by side with the Association and actively participate in movements and activities of the Association to ensure the rights, support and facilitation for people with difficult circumstances in the province. Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front and people's organizations in the province pay more attention to and well implement the policies and laws promulgated for the disabled and orphans. The Association and its member associations are helped to operate more and more effectively.

On the occasion, the Central Association awarded the medal "For the cause of sponsoring the disabled and orphans in Vietnam" to many individuals while concurrently awarding certificates of merit to 20 collectives and 5 individuals; the provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 7 collectives and 8 individuals.

At the congress, the provincial Youth’s League launched the Youth Volunteer Team to support the disabled, orphans and poor patients in Binh Duong province. Many organizations, units, businesses and benefactors have also donated resources for the Association's activities in the coming time. Based on the supportive resources, the provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients has donated 7 laptops to orphans and children of disabled people to support them to have more learning conditions; they also donated 6 wheelchairs and 2 hand wheelchairs to disabled people in the province.
