The joy of getting back to work

Working is more joyful than staying at home, which is the true sentiment of many workers in the first days of the year. The effect of this year’s Covid-19 pandemic situation in the province, hundreds of thousands of migrant workers stayed in Binh Duong for Tet. Meanwhile, to ensure safety against epidemics during this Tet holiday, Binh Duong has limited the organization of entertainment events with large crowds, so most workers are just around their living zones in the hostels. The resting time is also enough, so the return to the company and business to work has made many employees eager. They hope that in 2021, the epidemic would soon end so that next year there would be a warm Tet to reunite with family and relatives at home.

Hoang Thi Thuy (from Ha Tinh), a worker at Pungkook Saigon 2 in Di An Town, said during her Tet holiday away from home, she received the visits of local authority, company leader as well as the Trade Union, offering her warm-hearted encouraging gifts.

“Due to the epidemic, we did not go out far, just wandering around our places, calling relatives to talk and for Tet wishing. On my first day of the year returning to work, I myself felt very excited as at home I was so sad. May 2021 the epidemic would soon pass so that it does not affect my work and next year I would be able to return home to reunite with my family.

Pungkook Saigon 2 Company has 1,717 employees. In the morning of the 6th of lunar January, its 1,564 workers returned to work. Do Thi Hoa, Director of Pungkook Saigon 2 Company, said: “Only a few workers have not come back from their hometown in time, they have asked for permission to return to work on February 18. Although the epidemic situation is complicated, in general, the production and business of our company have not been much influenced; the average income of employees is guaranteed.”

As recorded by us, on the same day, many businesses eyed thousands of employees returning to work in the first encouraging day of the year. According to the statistics of the Trade Union of Di An town, on the 6th of lunar January, nearly 80% of workers outside the industrial park came back to work; and, in Ben Cat town, this figure is about 40%. Tran Trung Hanh, Deputy Chairman of Ben Cat town Trade Union, said: “A lot of workers returning home to celebrate Tet have returned to their localities to prepare for the first working day of the year. Some businesses will start work in the coming days, not on the 6th of lunar January, so the number of employees returning to work in the next few days will increase.”

Proactive pandemic prevention and control

Facing the complicated epidemic situation in many provinces and cities, Binh Duong provincial Trade Union and authorities at all levels gave timely instructions on disease prevention and control before, during and after Tet holiday as the have been returning to Binh Duong to work in the beginning days of the year. For workers who stay in Binh Duong to welcome Tet, they must have confirmation of their stay in Binh Duong to welcome Tet, not to return home. For workers who returned to their hometowns, when returning to Binh Duong to work, they must make a clear medical declaration before entering the company.

Nawa Precision Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Thoi Hoa ward, Ben Cat town) will receive returning workers to work on the first day of the year in the morning of February 18th. To ensure the pandemic prevention and control, the company has actively disinfected many areas such as cafeterias, offices, corridors, elevators, and surfaces in their company. Nguyen Thi Tuong Van, Chairwoman of the company's Trade Union, said that in addition to forcing employees to wear masks and to perform distancing during meal times, the company also allows them to stay in quarantine at home for 14 days if returning from epidemic provinces and cities. This year, most of the company's experts stayed in Binh Duong to celebrate Tet. The company strictly implements measures to ensure the health of everyone and maintains production as well as follows the direction of all levels in pandemic prevention and control.

Meanwhile, Bui Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Trade Union of Sho Gloves Company in Ben Cat town, said that some lines need a large number of workers and cannot conduct distancing during working hours, so the company helps workers wear masks and anti-splash goggles to prevent and control the pandemic. During mealtimes, people are in 2m distancing. Only 30 people are per meal for about 15 minutes, not sitting as long as before. The disinfection stages in many areas of the company have been carried out since the 4th of lunar January.

Talking about promoting propaganda as well as implementing disease prevention and control in the enterprise, Doan Nam Le Thien, Deputy Chairman of the Trade of Di An city, said this year, the number of workers stayed in Binh Duong to welcome Tet was about 40%; in whom were mainly workers from the Central and the North of Vietnam. Most of the workers in the West returned home to celebrate Tet with their families. Since the last days of the year, the implementation of disease prevention and control to the grassroots trade union levels has been underway. “The measures such as wearing a mask during working hours, hand sanitation before entering the company, during meal time or keeping a distance during working hours and meal times have been implemented by the grassroots trade union in the companies and enterprises. Particularly, employees returning home to welcome Tet when returning to Binh Duong to work must report their medical status for close monitoring.”
