Over the years, depending on the large and small scale, production field, and financial situation, many farmers have applied mechanization to free up labor and improve productivity on crops and livestock. This shows that farmers are increasingly proactive, creative, and change their thinking towards sustainable production and improving quality of life.
Depending on the large and small scale and field of operation, farmers invest in machinery and apply appropriate mechanization to production activities. In the photo: Nguyen Van Dung works the soil with a mini tiller for clean production on an area of 5,000 square meters
Having been attached to vegetable farming for more than 3 years, Nguyen Van Dung of Phu Tho Quarter in Phu Chanh ward of Tan Uyen town has equipped suitable machines for production. In the 5,000-m2 garden that was almost covered with green vegetables, Dung took advantage of the control of a mini cultivator to loosen the soil on the rest to sow new vegetables. Dung said: "The mini tiller is suitable for small farming households for both cleaning the grass and saving a lot of time and labor."
According to Dung, the demand for clean vegetables among consumers is increasing strongly. One of the important steps for good growth of vegetables is to treat the soil from the very beginning. “Thanks to the support of the machines, I don't have to pay to hire workers, my family members do it by ourselves from tilling the soil and sowing seeds to harvesting. Although we are busy, stable output is the driving force for development. We also do not rest on New Year's Day working continuously as we must have vegetables every day to supply to traders. Every year, the profit is about VND 300 million," Dung happily added.
Nguyen Tan Thy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Chanh ward in Tan Uyen town, said that thanks to the application of mechanization, farmers have saved labor. A lot of vegetable farmers in the ward have been using the same method. Last year, the ward mobilized households to grow clean vegetables to establish Phu Chanh Vegetable Cooperative. In order for the cooperative to develop sustainably and stably in long-term sales, the ward created favorable conditions for cooperative members to visit and learn from successful models in the province and to encourage members to unite and help develop together.
For large-scale units and establishments, the application of mechanization in production becomes even more important. After more than 12 years of establishment and development with great difficulties, but Nhan Duc Cooperative of Hieu Liem commune in Bac Tan Uyen district still overcame to succeed partly thanks to the application of mechanization. Operating in the field of citrus fruit production and raising chickens and cows on a large scale, the cooperative has gradually electrified and mechanized to improve production efficiency. Prioritizing organic production, the cooperative raised cows and built a 700-m2 barn specializing in processing cow dung into organic fertilizer. Along with farming grass to both get grass to feed the cows and as raw materials for manure processing. The cooperative invested in animal husbandry in the direction of technology with investments in grinders and fertilizer processing.
Tran Thanh Co, Director of Nhan Duc Cooperative, affirmed: “Without mechanization, agricultural production would not be possible. During the production process, many difficulties persisted. But it is difficult to have a direction and the direction of the cooperative is an effort to perfect the mechanization, fully equipped with machinery for production. I raise 50 cows, but it only takes half an hour to cut enough grass for the cows to eat (about 6 blocks), thus, only one person needs to do it. According to Tran Thanh Co, the application of organic fertilizers has also become simpler. As before they apply 1 can of chemical fertilizer, now they only need 1 basket of organic fertilizer equivalent to 160 cans of chemical fertilizer. Mechanization both saves labor and ensures the quality of crops, limiting the use of chemical fertilizers. In 2022, the cooperative focus on equipping machines such as grass and corn harvestors.
“Each cooperative has a different direction, after having power, complete mechanization, and successful factory investment, Nhan Duc Cooperative will invest in manure fields, thereby, expanding livestock production. In order to improve operational efficiency, the cooperative has received loan support from the State to invest in machinery. In the future, hopefully the Cooperative Association can offer more loans, and the mortgage calculation will increase as the current asset valuation is a bit low," Co expressed his wish.
