The grassroots health system strengthened to adapt to the new situation

During the stage of safe adaptation, proactive flexibility, and effective control of the Covid-19 epidemic, many localities have continued to promote the strength of the grassroots health care level, especially the mobile medical station model to provide medical care closer to the people.

The effectiveness of basic medical care doubled

As one of the densely populated localities with a large number of immigrant workers along with 12,000 households and about 34,000 people, in the current stage and in addition to the traditional medical station, Phu Hoa ward in Thu Dau Mot city still maintain and promote the effectiveness of the mobile medical station in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, especially the work of supporting and instructing F0 to quarantine and treat at home and get vaccinated against COVID-19 . In addition, the ward continues to consolidate and maintain the operation of 104 community COVID-19 groups with more than 500 members, of which 40 have been established in hostels.

Mr. Phan Cong Khanh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phu Hoa ward in Thu Dau Mot city, said that the maintenance of mobile medical stations is currently continuing to promote effectiveness in the stage of preferring safety to be proactive and flexible about the prevention and fight against COVID-19. When receiving requests for support from residents and workers in hostels, especially F0 treatment, the mobile medical station forces will come to the place to guide and propagate people to get fully vaccinated and strictly follow the "5K" of Ministry of Health. Up to now, the fixed medical station and mobile medical station in Phu Hoa ward have guided and supported about 3,500 F0 to quarantine and treat at home to recover from the disease," said Khanh.

According to Khanh, community COVID-19 teams also actively support the reviewing of the number of people who have not been vaccinated and have been vaccinated according to the motto of "going to each alley, knocking door to door, and checking each object". Thanks to that, in the recent vaccination plan, the ward has got a relatively accurate number of people who need to be vaccinated. At the same time, community COVID-19 groups have also contributed to propagating people and workers to understand the benefits of booster vaccination. As a result, up to now, Phu Hoa ward has had more than 90% of people aged 18 and over get the 3rd dose injection and nearly 100% of the 12-17 year olds get the 2nd shots.

Talking to us, Mr. Tran Sy Nam, Deputy Chairman of Thu Dau Mot city People's Committee, said that the city has 14 medical stations in localities with 122 people and 3 enhanced mobile medical stations of the province for the patients. Key areas include Phu Hoa, Phu Loi and Hiep Thanh wards. In addition, the city set up 5 mobile medical stations in Dai Dang, Kim Huy, Dong An, Song Than 3 industrial parks with 40 people. Accumulated up to now, the stations have received treatment for more than 53,000 F0 patients. The mobile medical station and the community COVID-19 team had promptly monitored, dispensed medicine and guided F0 to effectively self-treat at home; at the same time, they receive feedbacks and recommendations of the people.

Promotion of the strength of the frontline force kept on

Binh An ward in Di An city is an area with about 24,000 people, of which, 2/3 of the population are temporary residents who are mainly workers working in industrial parks and businesses in the area. Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Hue, Secretary of the Party Committee of Binh An ward, said that during the stage of safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of the COVID-19 epidemic, the ward has consolidated 67 community COVID-19 groups with nearly 200 members. Along with that, the local traditional medical stations and mobile medical stations have so far continued to promote positive effects in the new phase to care and support treatment for F0 in the area. Specifically, the members of the community COVID-19 team continue to be a channel to collect and review each neighborhood and hostel to understand the situation of infections, and coordinate with medical forces to organize instructions for F0 to quarantine and treat at home as well as to monitor F0s during the quarantine process to limit the risk of outbreaks and infections in communities, residential areas, and hostels.

Mr. Pham Van Bay, Deputy Chairman of Di An city People's Committee, said that the locality currently maintains 15 mobile medical stations with 75 members. Up to now, mobile medical stations have supported and treated 126,869 F0 to recover from the disease. The locality also continues to maintain and promote the effectiveness of 953 community COVID-19 groups with nearly 2,700 members and 623 COVID-19 safety teams at 203 businesses in the area. In addition, commercial centers, markets and supermarkets are also keeping on to maintain 68 COVID-19 safety groups with 85 members.

“Mobile medical stations and community COVID-19 teams, and COVID-19 safety teams continue to be identified by the city as an important role in the safe and flexible adaptation stage to effectively control the COVID-19 epidemic. The force has contributed to the local control of the epidemic situation by actively supporting the  F0 control and treatment as well as vaccination and propaganda activities while mobilizing people and workers to strictly follow the "5K" of Ministry of Health. The forces also help the locality to promptly grasp difficult situations due to the impact of the epidemic to provide timely support," said Mr. Pham Van Bay.
