The gratitude to an island district

During the summer youth volunteer campaign in Phu Quy island district, the volunteer group of Binh Duong provincial Youth Union went to a small village located deep in the alley of Tam Thanh commune to visit and encourage Mrs. Tran Thi My Linh family which is a poor household with extremely difficult circumstances in the locality. Mrs. Linh and her husband have 2 young daughters. Her husband is an unstable employee and Linh is in poor health, so she stays at home to take care of the children and take care of the housework. Thus, Mrs. Linh's family have gotten into very hard time.

After encouraging Mrs. Linh's family, the volunteer group went to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Quy's family, who was also in harsh circumstances. Quy and her husband do not have stable jobs as the whole family only lives on a small grocery store built temporarily, so the income is not enough for living and taking care of children of schooling ages.

On visit to the poor families in Tam Thanh commune, Binh Duong provincial Youth Union gave each family a gift of VND 500,000 and VND 2 million in cash with the desire to partly share the difficulties of the two families. Mrs. Tran Thi My Linh said: “Receiving the gift from Binh Duong provincial Youth Union, I am very happy. The young people who did not hesitate to come far and share with us are really appreciated."

Mr. Tran Bao Lam, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Youth Union, said that the campaign of "Green summer with homeland's sea and islands" in Phu Quy island district of Binh Thuan province took place in the first 2 weeks of June. The campaign had 23 soldiers from Binh Duong province in many meaningful and practical activities in the island district. In which, the provincial Youth Union, the Vietnamese Youth Union of the province helped to build new toilets, given gifts to people and socially privileged families with difficult circumstances in the district, offerred scholarships to disadvantaged children, free consultation, medical examination, medicine distribution, and post-COVID-19 health care for 300 young people and people on the island.

Youthful enthusiasm

The campaign always highlights the enthusiasm of the participating volunteer soldiers.

The 23 volunteers from the province participating in this year's campaign are mostly students studying in Binh Duong. On participating in the "Green Summer" in Phu Quy island district, despite the hot and harsh climate and especially the accommodation and activities, the volunteers have not been hindered by the limited conditions. Some of them have been many times but some have first came to Phu Quy island district. However, all of them shared the same enthusiasm and wholeheartedly performed the tasks assigned by the commanding board of the squad.

In Phu Quy island district, they have renovated and upgraded the toilets of Long Hai Primary School, renovated the youth project of "Decorating the sea embankment", conducted propaganda and waste collection, painted and repaired houses for the alone elderly, poor households, fishermen in difficult circumstances, families of socially privileged policies, and families with meritorious services to the revolution. On the other hand, the squad also organized summer activities and soft skills training courses for young people in the island district.

On this occasion, they went to the monument of "Ho Chi Minh Torch" to visit and commemorate the beloved President Ho Chi Minh. At the location, they would have more knowledge about the Ho Chi Minh torch which was inaugurated in October 2011 with a height of 19.5m to symbolize President Ho Chi Minh's birthday on May 19 on the top of Cam Mountain - one of the two highest mountains of Phu Quy island where people visit and the local government organizes the ceremony to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh on major holidays and important local events.

With solidarity, joining hands and the spirit of helping life, the volunteers have directly participated in social security projects and works in the island district. The Commanding Board of the volunteer squad also assigned soldiers to do backing care-taking of the members' lives, activities and meals to ensure that the soldiers are always in good health to fulfill all tasks. .

In each deployed campaign, the provincial Youth Union organized delegations to visit, encourage and give gifts to volunteers on duty on Phu Quy island. At each meeting, officials of the provincial Youth Union and the Vietnamese Youth Union of the province together with the soldiers carry out the works and friendly dine with the volunteer soldiers.

Nguyen Hoang An, a student at Thu Dau Mot University, said: “Joining the campaign, I myself have been trained the spirit of overcoming hardship by promoting youthful energy, volunteering, dedication and maturity. I feel happier when I can do something to share with local people and together with my companions to become a family with care, unity and joy.”

Volunteer soldiers on the front of Phu Quy island district were not afraid of difficulties to actively carry out projects and tasks in the best way, contributing to the construction of more and more beautiful homeland's sea and islands.
