The Party of Thu Dau Mot City over 75 years of development

75 years ago, Thu Dau Mot Party Committee was established. Experiencing the ups and downs of history, the Party Committee and people of Thu Dau Mot City still firmly believe in the Party, in President Ho Chi Minh, continue the tradition of solidarity and unity, build an increasingly civilized, prosperous, modern and kind homeland.

Critical position

Thu Dau Mot used to be a wild land, at the end of the 17th century, some people began to migrate to this land. The name "Thu Dau Mot" was born on November 5, 1876 according to the Decree of Admiral Dupré (French). Through historical periods, Thu Dau Mot is still the central administrative unit of Song Be - Binh Duong province.

Le Thanh Long, Head of Propagation and Education Commission of Thu Dau Mot City Party Committee, said that in August 1948, based on the actual situation of Thu Dau Mot province, the Southern Party Committee decided to establish Thu Dau Mot Town by separating two communes Chanh Hiep and Phu Cuong of Chau Thanh district. The Party Committee of Thu Dau Mot Town then consisted of 5 branches with over 100 party members.

During the French colonial period, Thu Dau Mot town was the center of the French colonial rule in Thu Dau Mot province - a province with an important strategic military position in the Southeast region. Later, the American imperialists also chose Thu Dau Mot as one of their garrison points and one of their rears. Located in the northern part of Saigon, Thu Dau Mot has a rather important position in terms of economy and politics, especially in security protecting of the headquarters apparatus of the henchman government and the US imperialists. Therefore, they established a convenient transportation system both by sea and by land, and are also an important springboard between us and the enemy.

During the resistance war, Thu Dau Mot was also an important supply for the war zone in terms of food and other necessities, medical service for the people and soldiers. It was a communication route of the war zone with the temporarily occupied area, which was persistently held by our soldiers to regain every inch of land from the enemy.

Solidarity tradition

Thu Dau Mot City made many important achievements in the fields of economy, culture, society, defense - security; Party and political system building work. Especially, Thu Dau Mot is recognized as a class-one city directly under Binh Duong province.

The above results were gained by the consensus and synergy of the Party Committee, government and people of Thu Dau Mot City. It is the successful application of many correct and satisfactory policies. The achievements were also based on the tradition of solidarity, patriotism, self-reliance, self-reliance, and industriousness to overcome difficulties of Thu Dau Mot people, which were tested and confirmed.

Especially, during nearly 3 implementation years of the 12th City Party Resolution, term 2020-2025, with solidarity, efforts and creativity, the City Party Committee has strengthened leadership, overcame difficulties and proposed many solutions to achieve important results. Up to now, the city has 25/41 targets achieved, 6/41 targets are close to targets. Party building and political system building always receive attention and achieved good results. Through reforming the form and improving the quality of political and ideological propaganda and education, unity within the Party and consensus in society have been created.

Local economic structure has shifted to the right direction, growth rate of the trade - service, industry - handicraft increase higher than the previous year, namely, 60.91%. - 39.06% - 0.03%. Socio-cultural fields have good changes, social security is guaranteed, living standards of the people has been improved, and many movements, activities are organized regularly to support policy beneficiaries, the poor, workers.

In order to create this economic structure, Thu Dau Mot city always focuses on reforming administrative procedures with a fast, concise and accurate method, which well meets population’s demands. With this result, Thu Dau Mot City continues to lead PAR Index at the district level for 9 consecutive years, commune-level units are in the top of 91 communes, wards and towns in the province.  In addition, digital transformation is implemented; the city establishes community technology groups in neighborhoods, organizes digital transformation skills classes; instructs businesses, organizations, households and people in digital transformation, creating accounts and using online public services; applies digital services interacting with government via digital platforms.

With this result, people are very pleased. Nguyen Thi Nguyen, who lives in Phu Cuong ward, shared: “My city is growing day by day. Thanks to emulation movements, the urban face is increasingly changing green - clean - beautiful. It is most clearly shown by each street, each alley is becoming very spacious and clean."

Le Thanh Long said that in order to fulfill the goals and tasks set out by the Party Resolution for the 2020-2025 tenure, the Party Committee of Thu Dau Mot City will closely follow developments of the situation, focus on leadership, resolutely perform tasks and have solutions as well as a detailed plan to overcome difficulties, facilitate stronger development.

To celebrate the 75-year journey of inheritance and development, the Party Committee, authorities and people of Thu Dau Mot City are joining forces, unifying the will and actions to build up a more civilized, prosperous, beautiful, modern and kind homeland.
