People’s Committee Chairman Le Thanh Cung just had a working session with EVN Group (Vietnam) on status of Pleiku-My Phuoc-Cau Bong 500kV power grid construction.

At the meeting, Mr. Le Thanh Cung highly appreciated efforts made by EVN in supplying electricity to promote socio-economic development; however, he called for consideration of compensation prices at market prices to ensure benefits to affected households.

As reported by EVN, in 2010, EVN has satisfied the needs of production and live hood in Binh Duong by supplying 5,286 million kWh which was 14.5% higher than 2009. In the first 6 months of 2011, the mentioned amount is at 2,734 million kWh. In 2011, EVN is expected to supply 6,043 kWh or 14.7% higher than 2010.

Also in the report of EVN, for the time to come, the Southern Region’s power supplying centers will not sustain the sub-supply to the region in the whole and Binh Duong Province in particular. Therefore, the power supply from Northern and the Highland will be diverted to the Southern Region. The action requires a 4,000MW capable power grid which is now only limited to around 1,600 to 1,800 MW on South-North power grid. As the matter of fact, EVN decided to build the keynote Pleiku-My Phuoc-Cau Bong 500kV power grid which passes through Binh Duong Province.
