Three additional successful organ transplants

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Quyet, director of Vietnam – Germany Friendship Hospital, on the evening of May 21, doctors from the hospital carried out successful two kidney transplants and one liver transplant to save the lives of three patients suffering from fatal disease.

The organs were from a donor who was a traffic accident victim. After seven hours, three organ transplants were successfully completed. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Quyet said that the hospital mobilized 120 doctors, technicians and nurses during these organ transplants.

So far, the three patients have regained consciousness and are recovering well.

There were no heart patients compatible with the heart of the donor. Therefore, doctors only conducted three organ transplants at the Vietnam – Germany Friendship Hospital and two cornea transplants at the National Optical Hospital./.
