A deep and wide development
After 5 years of implementing the action program on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, Binh Duong has witnessed a strong development both in depth and width. The program has impacted strongly on socio-economic infrastructure in the provincial rural areas and improved farmers’ spiritual and material life. Many programs and projects have been invested effectively; right transfer of economic structure has contributed to spur progress of rural industrialization and modernization.
As of the end of 2012, the provincial density of agro-forestry and aquatic product sector only accounted for 3.8% but it contributed importantly to local common development. The average production value reached VND73mil per ha of production land, a double increase from 2008, the total area of perennial plant was at over 135,000 ha, a 4% increase, total poultry herd rose double compared with 2008. many localities in the province established safe agricultural production areas and hi-tech agricultural areas with the total area of 991.4ha at An Thai, Tan Hiep, Phuoc Sang communes of Phu Giao district, Vinh Tan, Hieu Liem of Tan Uyen district.
Hi-tech agriculture projects in Binh Duong have been launched rapidly; some of them have given products to market. In addition, many households and farms have applied technical advances into production whilst high quality varieties of plants have been exploited drastically, increasing capacity of species and plants from 5-10%.

Till the end of 2012, the entire province had 5,777 asphalted rural traffic roads with the total length of 3,646.61km, rate of households in rural areas using clean water reached 96.5%, a 4.5% increase, 99.59% of rural families used electricity, etc. On average, rural people enjoyed an income of VND22.5mil per capita per year.
Shortcomings in need of improvement
At present, there remain 4 criteria winning a low density compared with plans. They consist of farming, breeding, service, national standard school. In addition, hi-tech agriculture areas have yet to promote their efficiency; investment attraction in agriculture is in poor attraction; planning and building of new rural projects at communes remain slow compared to plans.
The provincial concrete goals of developing agriculture, farmers, rural areas till 2020 include a 4.5-5% increase in agro-forestry and aquatic products, average production value of VND100mil per one ha, average income of VND36mil per capita per year, rate of trained rural laborers of over 50% and many more.
To reach the mentioned goals, it requires the provincial agriculture and rural development sector to minimize difficulties and promote advantages to increase the program’s efficiency.
In the coming time, along with launching some other crucial programs of agriculture, farmers and rural areas, new rural building program and other projects will surely have new development steps.
The provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung said that the action program No.77/CTr-TU on agriculture, farmers and rural areas has made a profound and overall change for Binh Duong rural areas. In the coming time, the locality will strengthen tech-scientific application into farming and breeding to raise capacity and quality of products.
