Thuan An builds cultural lifestyle from practical models

The movement of "All people unite to build a cultural lifestyle" has always received attention from all-level Party Committees and authorities of Thuan An city. Implementing this movement, along with building a civilized urban lifestyle, many practical models have appeared, forming up a regular emulation movement, greatly contributing to the local socio-economic development results.

Emulation to build a civilized city

With the close direction of the city’s Party Committee, People's Committee, over the past time, the construction of a civilized urban lifestyle has received attention from the city’s sectors, mass organizations, communes and wards. Many practical activities and models have been launched and implemented, thereby improving the people's quality of life and making the local image get many positive changes, creating a high consensus among the people.

Many models joining hands to build a civilized city have been effectively implemented by Thuan An city’s youth

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, Chairwoman of Lai Thieu ward’s People's Committee said that the local leaders have determined that building a civilized urban lifestyle is an important political task and is one of the local key socio-economic programs. In addition to maintaining the implementation of effective models, in the new period, the locality has also implemented a number of models, including collecting garbage by the hour, sorting waste at source, exchanging plastic waste for gifts, making civilized urban routes, planting flowers in vacant land...

Implementing a civilized lifestyle, young people in Thuan An city have also deployed many meaningful models. Nguyen Thanh Luat, Vice-Secretary of Thuan An city’s Youth Union said that over the past time, the city’s Youth Union Standing Committee launched the "Civilized youth roads, canals, alleys" model in association with implementing the "All people unite to build a cultural lifestyle" movement and building a civilized, modern and friendly Thuan An city. Since March 2018, the city's youngsters have built urban civilization on 26 roads, 6 canals and 56 alleys. Besides, the city’s Youth Union has implemented more effective models, consisting of "Youth joining hands to build beautiful, green quarter", "Green apartment building", "Green, bright, beautiful lodging facility”, "Youth with traffic” festival, "3 friendly smiles"…

Along with that, other sectors, mass organizations and localities of Thuan An city also have realized appropriate models, actively participating in the local economic, cultural and social development.

Paying attention to improving quality

Evaluating the effectiveness of the movement in 2022, Nguyen Thi Hien, Vice-Chairwoman of Thuan An city’s People's Committee said that the movement was implemented in a synchronous way and received the attention and direction of the local all-level Party Committees, authorities last year. The movement has attracted the attention and response of people from all strata, contributing to building a disciplined living environment and a cultural lifestyle in residential areas. Emulation movements were held regularly, with focus on launching a civilized urban lifestyle with many specific models, supported by localities and people. Their effectiveness had a positive impact on many aspects in the local cultural, social life and economic development.

However, along with results achieved, the movement has still had some shortcomings for change in order to improve its quality in the coming time. The city is densely populated with people from different regions with different living habits, so there are certain difficulties in the mobilization of implementing civilized lifestyles in wedding parities, funerals and festivals. The registration of implementing cultural enterprises has not received much attention from enterprises yet. In addition, environmental issues, settlement of phone numbers in violation of regulations on advertising also need to be overcome in order for the movement to achieve higher results.

According to Nguyen Thi Hien, in order to improve the quality of the movement, the city will further improve the effectiveness of propaganda; continue promoting the movement in association with the implementation of objectives and tasks under the Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW dated June 9, 2014 of the 9th plenum of the 11th Party Central Committee on the building and development of the Vietnamese culture and people to meet the need of sustainable national development. The city will also promote the construction of cultural life in industrial parks, compounds and social housing areas, contributing to improving workers’ cultural and spiritual lives; further promote and be drastic in building an civilized urban-cultural lifestyle, with focus on building the "Project on building a civilized urban lifestyle" to continue maintaining and developing the movement in the next years.

In 2022, Thuan An city had 51 out of 56 quarters and hamlets with the cultural title; 42,485 out of 44,189 households recognized as cultured ones, or 96.1% of total; 5,994 out of 6,659 lodging facilities recognized as cultural ones or 90% of total; 117 out of 121 agencies and schools meeting cultural standards, or 96.6% of total.
