Thuan An city summarizes the implementation of Directive 18 on enhancing traffic order and safety

On the morning of May 31, Thuan An city Party Committee held a conference to review 10 years of implementing Directive 18-CT/TW dated September 4, 2012 of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee of the eleventh term on strengthening leadership of the Party for the work of ensuring traffic order and safety on roads, railways and inland waterways and overcoming traffic jams in Thuan An city.

According to statistics, in the past 10 years, there have been 4,664 traffic accidents in Thuan An city, causing 374 deaths, more than 6,280 injuries, and damage to more than 7,870 vehicles. The main causes of traffic accidents are the low awareness of traffic participants, overloaded vehicles, drinking while driving, speeding, and reckless overtaking. Traffic infrastructure is not synchronized and means of transport have dramatically increased.

In the past 10 years, the Thuan An city Police force has organized over 34,970 patrols to control and handle more than 14,220 cases of violations of traffic safety and urban order, seized over 83,000 vehicles and more than 59,000 tickets of all kinds. On the occasion, Thuan An city People's Committee presented certificates of merit to 14 collectives and 28 individuals who had excellent achievements in traffic safety.
