Thuan An marks 45th founding anniversary of Vietnam Blind Association

Thuan An town, on April 15, held a ceremony to mark the 45th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Blind Association (April 17, 1969-April 17, 2014).

At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the 45-year development of the Vietnam Blind Association and the 30-year development of Thuan An town’s Blind Association. The town’s Blind Association now has 130 members and 9 branches. Realizing that employment creation is a key task of the association, the Executive Board of the association opened 5 classes on making brooms for 24 members and registered 8 other members to attend classes on massage skills. After fulfilling the classes, they were arranged to work for the association’s production-trading and service facilities.

In 2013, the town’s Blind Association made nearly 5,300 various brooms with a total revenue of more than VND123mln, creating jobs for 4 laborers with the average income of VND 900,000 per person per month…Since 1993, the association has also helped 354 members get nearly VND1.4bln in loan on credit to develop home based business…

On this occasion, three outstanding individuals were awarded the mementoes of the Vietnam Blind Association for their contributions over the past years. Toan Phat Animal Feed Processing Co.Ltd. also presented 50 gifts to members of the town’s Blind Association.
