Upon achievements done in 2013 plus the set targets, Thuan An town is actively taking measures to promote its economic growth. With concrete measures, it is believed that the town’s economy will reach positive changes, opening opportunities for enterprises to have a high growth in 2014 and continue gaining a sustainable development in the following years.

Economy further rising up

In 2013, Thuan An town’s economic structure still continued developing towards industry, trade-services and agriculture. Compared to 2012, the town’s industrial production value increased by 11.4%, trade-services by 18.6% and agriculture by 9.3%. Of these, industrial production value occupied a great proportion in the local economic structure. To achieve the above results, the town last year took many measures to advocate enterprises.

The town has also set its 2014 specific targets of gaining a growth by 15%, 22%, 2% and 13.56% in industrial production value, total retail sales revenue of commodities and services, agricultural production value, total State budget collection, respectively.

Truong Cong Thach, Deputy Head of Thuan An town’s Department of Economics said: “Upon achievements done in 2013 together with the set targets, Thuan An town will further create a favorable environment to mobilize all resources for investment and development. The town will take many measures to support the market, deal with bad debts to maintain its economic growth. Along with this, the town will speed up investment in technical infrastructure at requirements on urban and socio-economic development under the modern and civilized trend…”.

Since early this year, the town has implemented a program on registration for industrial promotion among small and medium-sized enterprises, aiming to help them remove difficulties. The town has also facilitated the development of some individual business households and rechecked a list of individual business households registering to pay various taxes. As of late February 2014, the local individual business households’ total revenue of trade-services was estimated at VND264.32bln, up 0.11% compared to the corresponding period of last year.

The town has also implemented many projects to promote the local agricultural sector, including those of “building, controlling and promoting a collective brand name of Lai Thieu mangosteen”, executing an agricultural development plan in the 2014 and 2016 period…

Development orientations

To achieve a sustainable and high growth, Thuan An town has put forward orientations and measures in each specific field.

Accordingly, regarding industrial production, the town will mobilize enterprises to make investment in industrial parks and compounds along with responding to an action plan on cleaner production in the 2012 and 2015 period; recheck and arrange industries in accordance with industrial park and compound zoning in association with urban rejuvenation; attach special importance to industries with high technology and low labor intensity …in order to increase the competitiveness of products manufactured by town-based enterprises.

In terms of trade-services, the town will promote auxiliary services for industrial manufacture; brace up economic sectors to make investment in this field and diversify hi-quality services such as banking, insurance, transport, logistics…The town will also tighten market control, take initiative in preventing and seriously dealing with speculation and hoarding of goods and other violations in business, contributing to stabilizing the market, ensuring social welfare and people’s lives.

The town will also continue shifting its plant and animal structure for better results; closely tighten control over epidemic diseases; execute plans and policies on agriculture, including those of shifting the sector’s structure towards the growth of urban and hi-tech agriculture in association with processing industry in the 2011 and 2015 period; supporting the maintenance and development of orchards in association with eco-tourism development.

For zoning, basic construction and urban management, the town will implement a 1/2000-scale zoning plan of functional zones in communes, wards; intensify the implementation of regulations on urban architecture zoning management; focus capital on key works towards urban development; work out works on rural traffic, urban rejuvenation…
