Thuan An town’s poor people enjoy a warm Tet

From Jan. 22-28, Tet ambience throughout Thuan An town took place lively. Especially, local poor people enjoyed a warm Tet holiday, thanks to assistance from donors and local authorities.

From lodging house areas…

In the Lunar New Year’s Eve, poor people in lodging house sub-societies such as Dien Phat, Suc Tre, Dai Nam… enjoyed gift packages each worth VND500,000 and Tet music show. Worker Nguyen Thi Mut from the Northern province of Nghe An working at Sao Viet Company in Dong An IP, said “we enjoyed a warm Tet holiday, thanks to assistance from local authorities”.

At boarding house areas in Thuan An town, Tet ambience of poor immigrant workers became warmer. Luong Minh Tan, secretary of Thuan An town Youth Union, said “During Tet holiday, local lodging house sub-societies in cooperation youths and unionists made efforts to bring a warm Tet for poor immigrant laborers by activities such as gift granting, year end parties, music shows and so on.

To hospitals…

At Thuan An town General Hospital, poor people and patients enjoyed a significant Tet holiday, thanks to assistance from donors. In this year, the hospital’s charity kitchen granted 500 Tet gifts to poor patients and held a music show for the poor.

Bui Van Long, a poor patient at the hospital, said “Enjoying assistance from the community, we feel warmer during Tet holiday”.

A warm Tet in everywhere

At An Thanh ward People’s Committee, 145 visually-impaired people enjoyed Tet gifts each worth VND500,000. Luong Cong Khanh, chairman of the ward People’s Committee expressed thanks to local administration and donors to the poor and unlucky.

Across other localities, thousands of Tet gifts were donated to unlucky children, lonely old people and so on. Huynh Thi Thanh Phuong, vice chairwoman of Thuan An town People’s Committee, said “aside from the provincial policies, the town People’s Committee spent over VND4bil to grant to local poor households and public servants as well as needy children. In addition, businesses and donors joined hands to support poor privileged families and needy households.
