To affirm key and connective role of charitable activities

As a bridge in charity and humanitarian activities, the Red Cross at all levels in the province has mobilized supporting resources and implemented many programs and activities over the past time to the work of ensuring social security of the province. Especially, during this 4th Covid-19 epidemic, the connection role continued to be promoted stronger to gather many resources and extend to hundreds of thousands of people in need of help.

Connectivity to meaningful supporting activities

Over the years, the Red Cross at all levels in the province have well promoted their core role and connection of humanitarian activities. Movements and activities implemented by the Red Cross have become more and more effective and in-depth to attract a large number of agencies, units, benefactors and people from all walks of life.

In particular, the movement of "Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange" has become an annual traditional activity of the association to be developed widely and received the attention and direction of the Party committees and authorities at all levels along with consensus and support of many organizations, businesses, benefactors and people from all walks of life. Upholding the determination to join hands with the whole society to offer Tet gifts, associations at all levels have actively mobilized resources inside and outside of the province and obtained many remarkable results as the following year was higher than the previous year regarding the target assigned by the Central Committee.

The supporting resources of enterprises and benefactors have helped Binh Duong provincial Red Cross offer to frontline forces of Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control in the province

Implementing the campaign of "Each organization, each individual attached to a humanitarian address", the Red Cross has had many creative and effective ways to implement and receive the response and direction of the central Red Cross, Party committees, authorities, many organizations and individuals inside and outside of the province. In order to support the right people, the association has investigated and grasped the situation of people in need of assistance in the area. From 2016 to now, the whole association has surveyed 13,567 dossiers and mobilized to help 13,306 humanitarian addresses with extremely difficult circumstances at a total implementation value of more than VND 29 billion.

Especially, from 2018 up to now, the association has extensively implemented Humanitarian Month (in May and brought about very practical effects to become a movement of the whole people to take care of the poor. The Red Cross at all levels have offered various and creative forms of assistance, bringing practical benefits to beneficiaries, such as VND 0 humanitarian market, rice ATM, medical examination and treatment, free medicine, gifts, building and repairing charitable houses, providing scholarships, supporting production capital, supporting free meals for poor patients at hospitals, organizing voluntary blood donation drives, etc.

People assisted to overcome the epidemic

To contribute to Covid-19 prevention and control and share difficulties with people affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, the provincial Red Cross has actively propagated and mobilized officials, members, and volunteers, Red Cross members in the province, and all classes of people to strictly implement the "5K" message of the Ministry of Health and support resources for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. From April to November 20, the Red Cross at all levels mobilized and received resources with a total value of more than VND 107.4 billion, of which nearly VND 56.2 billion (including money and goods) was at the province level, and more than VND 51.1 billion at district and grassroots levels.

The prominent and must-mentioned activities of the Red Cross are the VND 0 humanitarian market fairs and the VND 0 buses. Up to now, the provincial Red Cross has organized 85 such market fairs to offer food, necessities, vegetables and fruits to more than 35,000 turns of people affected by the Covid-19 epidemic in the province at a total value of about VND 17 billion. At the district and grassroots levels, 1,127 mobile vehicle trips and 148 "VND 0 market fairs" have been organized to give away over 67,000 gifts to disadvantaged people and residents affected by the epidemic worth nearly VND 26.6 billion.

The VND 0 market fairs have helped tens of thousands of people in hardship

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, a resident in Hiep Thanh ward of Thu Dau Mot city, said: “I am blind and working as a lottery ticket street seller. Due to the epidemic, I could not sell for a long time and had no income. After the social distancing, the place I stayed was locked down due to a case. My wife is also blind, so life is very difficult and I have only been selling lottery tickets for nearly 2 weeks now. In the past time, the Red Cross has supported me several times, so my family has food to get through the hardest days."

Through practical and effective activities, the Red Cross has played a pivotal role in humanitarian charity over the past years. It has been confirmed that, in the process of development, associations at all levels have always shown their roles and responsibilities in inheriting and promoting the nation's tradition of compassion and mutual love, ready to be present in a timely manner in the most difficult places and times to always be beside the poor and disadvantaged in society and to well perform the noble humanitarian mission entrusted by the Party and State.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of the provincial Red Cross, said: "In his living days, President Ho Chi Minh once advised the Red Cross officials and members to endorse the sincere love of the people and contribute to the protection of the people's health and do everything possible to ease their suffering. Therefore, despite difficulties and hardship, the staff and members of the Red Cross always keep in mind such teachings and uphold the motto of "For everyone - Everywhere". Associations at all levels in the province have had many practical jobs to take care of the poor and disadvantaged people, contributing to the good implementation of the province's social security work.
