Update: 28-06-2024 | 12:14:36

With the theme "Happy Family - Prosperous Nation", this year's Vietnam Family Day (June 28) is an opportunity for all levels, sectors, socio-political organizations and people to pay attention to the position and role of the family, how to organize family life, build family relationships, gender equality in the family, and prevent and combat domestic violence, honoring human values of the Vietnamese family.

The "Reading books with your children" contest at this year's Provincial Typical Cultural and Sports Family Contest spread many meaningful messages to everyone.

Happiness is always shared

Family is a special institution in society, a place to maintain the race and nurture, educate human personality throughout his life. A happy family always has care, love, and sharing to fulfill tasks together in the family as well as in society. In recent days, many localities and units in the province have organized response activities to propagate and educate people of all walks of life about the traditional humanistic values of the Vietnamese family, and together build prosperous, progressive, happy families to make society better.

Although not materially wealthy, the family of Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Anh (63 years old) in Chanh Loc 2 Quarter, Chanh My Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, is known by many people as an example in building a civilized family. She and her husband have two children, both of whom have their own families. Currently, they are living with their son and his wife and two grandchildren. Despite being a tree-generation family, Ms. Anh's family is a harmonious and happy family. Sharing about building a happy family, Ms. Anh said that parents and grandparents must always be role models for their children and grandchildren to follow.

To keep peace in the family, according to Ms. Anh, parents and grandparents must pay attention to teaching their children and grandchildren about manners from a young age and must know how to love, care and share with each other even if it's just little things. At home, Ms. Anh does everything she can to help her children and grandchildren. When children and grandchildren go to work or come home from school, they also know how to help their mothers and grandmothers with housework. According to Ms. Anh, although the work is not much, working together completes it faster. Furthermore, sharing and working together will create a happy atmosphere in the family.

“In her family, men and women are always equal. Housework can be done by anyone who is free, it doesn't matter whether it's a woman or a man. When she goes to work, she also tries to arrange the housework in order, and her husband at home will help with the remaining chores. Children and grandchildren come home from work or school and see that their parents and grandparents have not finished their work yet, and they help. In particular, when it comes to meals, it is always full of members. This is also the time when members sit together, eat, talk and share with each other, while keeping the family atmosphere always warm and happy," Ms. Anh shared.

Many response activities

In response to this year's Vietnamese Family Day, localities have organized meaningful activities, such as: typical cultural and sports family competitions, family days, cooking competitions... Recently, Chanh My ward in Thu Dau Mot city has carried out a series of activities to respond to Vietnamese Family Day including a folk cake festival with 22 stalls and a cooking contest with 9 families representing 9 neighborhoods participating. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Huu, Vice Chairman of Chanh My Ward People's Committee, said family work is one of their top issues.  Through activities to respond to this year's Vietnamese Family Day, the ward wants to create a chance for families to improve their understanding and continue to preserve and promote family traditions and national cultural traditions; connect members of each family, families in the community are more united.

In order to create conditions for families in the province to have the opportunity to meet, exchange culture, arts, sports, experiences on activities to build happy families, and strengthen friendly solidarity, Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also held a typical cultural and sports family contest of Binh Duong province in 2024. At the provincial contest, 27 exemplary families representing 9 districts and cities in the province demonstrated their strengths in 3 competitions: “Talented family”, “Reading books with children” and “Having fun with children”.

Mr. Le Van Thai, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the contest is also a training and propaganda session on knowledge and understanding of family culture; about life skills and behavior among family members. Thereby contributing to building a happy, well-off and progressive family, proceed to build a civilized and modern society in the national industrialization and modernization period.

Along with organizing the above contest, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also developed a plan to propagate the National Action Month on domestic violence prevention and control, and organize activities on the occasion of Vietnamese Family Day for departments, branches, units and localities to implement response activities that are appropriate to the situation of each unit and locality. Namely, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also encouraged all public employees, workers, members, associates and the general public in the province to respond to the "Warm and loving family meal" with their family from 5-7 p.m. on June 28, 2024.

In addition to the response activities in this period, to build prosperous, progressive, equitable and happy families, each citizen and family, along with departments and organizations in the province, should join hands to preserve and uphold cultural traditions and good behaviors in the family; building cultural families, implementing gender equality, preventing domestic violence... so that each family is a healthy cell of society.

Determining the especially pivotal role of the family, in recent times, Party committees and authorities in the province  always pay attention to family work. Departments, branches, unions, and localities organized many programs and activities that contribute to building Vietnamese families that both bring the typical cultural features of traditional Vietnamese families and supplement the values consistent with the cause of building, protecting and developing the country in the integration period.
