In the morning of December 20, at the provincial Convention and Exhibition Center, the Department of Education and Training held a conference to commend and reward teachers and students who gained high achievements in the annual exams of the academic year 2021-2022 and the 2nd schooling scholarship for the academic year of 2022-2023. Attending the event was Truong Thi Bich Hanh - Standing Member and Head of the Propaganda and Education of the provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong – Deputy Chairwoman of the provincial People's Council, Nguyen Van Danh – Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, and representatives of leaders of departments, divisions, and teachers and students being commended.

The school year of 2021-2022 was a school year of troubles for the province's education and training sector due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic. However, the drastic and in-depth direction of the provincial leaders, the joint efforts of departments, branches, unions and agencies, organizations and businesses along with the consent of the students' parents have made great progress to help the education and training sector to achieve the encouraging results.
Specifically, in the national competition for excellent students, Binh Duong won 34 prizes including 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 9 third prizes and 21 consolation prizes. The computer science subject has achieved such titles for 3 consecutive years with over 80% of the students taking the exam winning the prizes. The provincial exams eyed 244 winners at the lower secondary level, and 321 at the high school levels. In particular, the high school graduation exam for the school year of 2021-2022 recorded 99.73% of students having passed the graduation; in which, the number of students admitted to universities and colleges reached the rate of 95.88%. In the school year of 2021-2022, the provincial competition of "Designing e-Learning lectures" was held for the second time with 260 participating products. The contest showed the success of applying information technology in lessons, and opens up for learners a completely new way of accessing information to be able to most effectively self-study.

Vong Vinh Toan - a student at Hung Vuong High Specialized High School in Thu Dau Mot city won the second prize in informatics at the national competition for excellent students in high school in 2022, said: “To achieve such high results in exams, and in addition to our constant efforts and perseverance, we are also fortunate to always have the companions of our teachers on the pathway of discovering knowledge and conquering our dreams. We promise to try our best to well study so as not to disappoint the teachers and make a small contribution to the glory of the province's education sector."
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Van Dich respectfully acknowledged and praised the excellent achievements that the province's education and training sector in the past school year. The Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee suggested that in the coming time, the education and training sector will continue to thoroughly and well implement the fundamental and comprehensive renovation of education and training to meet the requirements of industrialization, modernization and international integration. The education and training sector should actively advise the Party committees and local authorities to promote learning and talent motivation activities to build up a learning society with focus on caring for and developing a team of highly qualified teachers. Students always uphold the sense of responsibility, striving to cultivate constantly to become exemplary and useful citizens for society.
Empowering schooling
Implementing Plan No. 4188/KH-UBND dated August 16, 2022 of the provincial People's Committee on organizing the program of empowering schooling for students of Binh Duong province in the school year of 2022-2023, at the end of August, the Department of Education and Training hosted the 1st program to give scholarships and gifts to more than 3,300 disadvantaged students in the province with a total cash amounts of nearly VND 2 billion among 1,000 gifts, 100 sets of school uniforms, 500 coats, 600 bicycles, 200 backpacks, 3,250 white notebooks, and 1,400 sets of textbooks and other school supplies.
After organizing the awarding of the first scholarships, the Department of Education and Training continued to receive the support of benevolent groups and individuals to create more conditions and share hardship with students in the area in the province to overcome challenges and to study well to finally welcome the warm 2023 Lunar New Year with excitement. In this second scholarship program, the Department of Education and Training awarded all remaining funding received by the sector in 2022 to 250 students from high schools and continuing educational centers. Holding the scholarship, Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Y, a student at Thanh Tuyen High School in Dau Tieng district) said: "I am very happy to receive a scholarship to support my schooling. This will be a source of encouragement for me and the scholarship recipients today is to firmly help my schooling to weave the most beautiful dreams of my future."
Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang - Director of the Department of Education and Training, said that Binh Duong, according to statistics, has more than 2,000 disadvantaged students who cannot continue to go to school including more than 200 orphaned in the school year of 2021-2022. Over the past time, the attention and direction of the provincial People's Committee along with the cooperation and contribution of agencies, individuals, organizations, and businesses inside and outside of the province have contributed to care of and support for the students, strengthing them and their families in the long journey ahead. “Thank you very much to the sponsors who have accompanied the program. Hopefully, in the coming time, the units will continue to join hands to make more contributions to help disadvantaged children overcome difficulties and strive to study," said Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang.
At the commendation ceremony, 13 students who won prizes in the national excellent student contest were awarded certificates of merit by the Ministry of Education and Training. The provincial Department of Education and Training awarded certificates of merit to 2,252 students and 42 teachers with high achievements in the school year of 2021-2022. It also awarded certificates of merit to 8 collectives and 54 individuals who won provincial e-Learning awards. On the occasion, the Department of Education and Training also awarded 250 scholarships of empowering schooling to students from high schools and continuing education centers in the province who have overcome drawbacks to study well.
