To develop reading culture among the people

The provincial People's Committee has just launched a project to develop reading culture in the community by 2020, with orientation to 2030 in Binh Duong province.

By 2020, 80% of pupils, students and other learners in educational institutions will have access to and use of information and knowledge in public libraries and libraries of educational, cultural establishments; 20-25% of people in rural areas, 15-20% of people in difficult socio-economic regions have access to and use of information, knowledge and related services in public library, community learning centers... The project also defined the average enjoyment of books will be 5 copies per citizen and 1 book/people in the public library system; Every average citizen reads 4 books per year; The person number accessing and using information in libraries will reach 5,000,000 per year...

To implement the project, provincial People's Committee asked Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with others departments, People's Committee of districts, towns and cities, political organizations to promote propaganda; building habits, equipping skills and reading methods; perfect mechanisms and policies and promote socialization; improve the efficiency of the public library system, enhance the application of information technology.
