To enhance the role of Farmer's Association in agricultural and rural development

After 7 implementation years of Conclusion 61 of the Secretariat on project "Improving the role and responsibilities of Vietnam Farmer's Association in agricultural development, building new rural areas and building Vietnamese peasant class Nam phase 2010-2020 "(the project), agriculture, farmers and rural areas of Binh Duong province have made many changes; farmer's lives have changed radically; the role of Farmers' Association has been improved.

Promoting capital efficiency

One of the most prominent achievements of the project was the renovation and improvement of Farmer Supporting Fund’s operations. In order to renovate and improve Farmer Supporting Fund’s operations, Farmers’ Association of districts, towns and city in the province set up a development project from local budget. Together with the entrusted capital, every year, all levels of the Association are actively creative in mobilizing capital resources by various forms. Since then, the total funding of Farmer Supporting Fund has been increased to over VND111 billion.

Based on Farmer Supporting Fund, Farmers’ Associations granted loans for production development to more than 4,200 households, 264 projects, establishment of 264 husbandry, cultivation and service cooperative groups to help farmers improve their livelihoods. Many farmers become farm owners ...

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, a farmer in Tan Dinh Ward, Ben Cat Town, said owing to Farmer Supporting Fund, his family had developed a quail breeding model in larger quantities, bringing stable income. In addition, the ward Farmers' Association also regularly creates conditions for him to take part in training courses, learn experiences in breeding and production to gain more knowledge in many other fields.

Farmer Supporting Fund has contributed to the formation of many models of collective economy in rural areas, for example, models of growing orchids, ornamental plants, pomelo, cow... In addition, supports from the fund have met the capital needs of farmers, thereby promoting the application of advanced science and technology, new technology in production, creating many products with high quality and competitiveness in the market; at the same time, effectively performing the economic restructuring of the locality and the construction of new rural areas.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung, Vice President of Provincial Farmers' Association, said that in order to renovate and improve Farmer Supporting Fund operations, in addition to capital support, Farmers' Association of all levels instructed farmers to build and expand many efficient production models, especially high-tech agricultural models, in order to further promote farmers' key role in agricultural and rural development.

Focusing on supporting members, farmers

Annually, Provincial Farmers' Association shall draw up a plan on periodical inspection and supervision of peasant movements and associations at the end of the year in association with the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities according to Conclusion 61 of the Secretariat. In addition, Provincial Farmers Association has actively coordinated with departments, agencies and sectors to implement some programs and projects approved by provincial People's Committee. Specifically, program “Vocational training – industry switching for farmers in the 2012-2015 period", project "Renovating and improving the operation of Farmer Supporting Fund for the period 2012-2015 and 2016- 2020 "... From these programs, Provincial Farmer's Association has successfully implemented more than 300 models of farmer support. Through counseling and support, farmers set up over 260 collective economic models. Cooperative models increasingly assert an important role in the production and consumption of raw materials, the application of scientific advances into production ...

At the meeting with provincial leaders of the Central Steering Committee on the implementation of the Party Central Committee's Conclusion 61, Cao Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, assessed that Binh Duong had implemented well Conclusion 61. In addition, he suggested that there should be closer coordination among departments to better implement contents of this conclusion. Every year, it is necessary to set a specific objective for assessing the implementation process in the most effective way.
