To ensure food safety during Tet Holiday

Food safety assurance is significant during Tet Holiday as the high demands for foods, especially animal meat during the season.

Staying close to production and husbandry

Implementing the project of “animal safety from diseases from 2012 to 2015”, Binh Duong Provincial Veterinary Division organized 4 training courses with safety facilities building for represetatives of 50 husbandry farms in the province, 6 courses on basic veterinary sanitation for communal and ward veterinary forces. The Division also organized 18 training courses for farmers to practice the best prevention measures against food and mouth disease and stock cholera. For the best outcome of the project, the Division established 02 specialized teams to facilitate safety establishment and 1 inspection team for registered farms in the province. As a result, animal quarantine has been well implemented to control the disease outbreaks while increasing inoculation for stock through years.

Particularly in 2014, the inspection delegation of Binh Duong Provincial Veterinary Division has checked up 28 businesses of poultry eggs and 25 concentrated slaughtering houses in the province. Through the inspection, 1 establishment was discovered to be failed in veterinary sanitation assurance. The delegation warned for remedies. Currently, 45 slaughtering houses have been under regulations for food safety assurance.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dong, Deputy Head of Binh Duong Provincial Veterinary Division, informed of robust inspection on production, husbandry, sales, slaughtering, and transportation of animals and animal products. The Division has robustly followed the reality to timely consult with Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and authorities to inspect at the sources to ensure food safety for consumers during Tet Holiday.

To intensify animal quarantine

Before and during Tet Holiday, the businesses, transportation and slaughtering of animals and poultries increase to service food demands of the public. Meantime, the changing weather was favorable for diseases outbreak on stock animals. Thus, the veterinary checking-up is being concentrated on by functional agencies.

Binh Duong Provincial Veterinary Division organizes intersectoral inspection teams to timely grasp up the status of disease occurance and food safety for the season. However, some businesses in the province failed to observe the regulations, troubling the control of animal transportation in the locality among risks of unsafe foods.

Mr. Phan Tan Dung, Director of An Dien Commune Slaughtering House in Ben Cat Town informed of average slaughtering of 8 cattles and 130 boars every evening. On daily basis, veterinary officals are on shifts monitoring the post-slaughtering transportation and disease control. For the upcoming Tet Holiday, it is expected that consumption power would increase, prompting the establishment to prepare for farm facilities and necessary tools to ensure slaughering quality as required by the Division.
