Monday, 09/12/2024

In order to ensure absolute safety for the people in the province during Tet 2025, Binh Duong Power Company recommends that citizens and customers raise their awareness of safe electricity use and comply with regulations regarding the protection of the high-voltage power grid's safety corridor. Along with this, the company is coordinating with relevant departments and agencies to firmly handle violations.

To enhance propaganda

Mr. Nguyen Trung Thu, Deputy Director of Bình Dương Power Company (PCBD), stated that in 2024, the company has invested in the installation of 112 safety warning panels at construction sites near the electric grid's safety corridor, 62 safety warning signs at locations where motor vehicles frequently pass under the 110kV power line, and installed 27 fishing warning signs at places where the 110kV power line runs close to or crosses ponds, lakes, and canals. Along with that, the company sent a notice to promote the protection of the safety corridor of the power grid to 153 enterprises, advertising facilities, and businesses involved in the installation of signboards, iron doors.

In a survey of potential safety hazards, the PCBD requested construction units for projects to sign 178 commitments with the owners of machinery such as dump trucks, cranes, excavators, and concrete pumps to carry out the work of protecting the safety corridor of the power grid. The company also pasted 1,662 stickers promoting the protection of the safety corridor of the power grid during construction, and distributed over 34,500 flyers promoting electrical safety and protecting the safety corridor of the power grid to households living near the power grid corridors.

In addition to propaganda work, PCBD has established inspection teams, and in 2024, they discovered and recorded 300 violations against households and businesses infringing on the safety corridor of high-voltage power lines; they required the dismantling and relocation of infrastructure and homes violating the safety corridor of the power lines. The main violations are due to people self-installing signs, light boxes, advertisements, scaffolding, constructing buildings, repairing houses, and awnings around electricity poles and public lighting columns, violating the safety corridor of the power grid.

Workers from PCBD collaborated with employees of ILD Coffee Vietnam Co., Ltd. to inspect electrical safety at the company's factory (Ben Cat city).

Preventing electrical incidents and accidents

Despite many warnings from the electricity sector, violations of the high voltage power line safety corridor and electrical accidents among the public continue to occur. In 2024, there was 1 electrical accident in the community resulting in 1 death and 1 injury, a reduction of 2 incidents compared to 2023. The cause was due to residents installing advertising boards that violated the safe distance from high voltage electrical discharges and came into contact with electrified communication cables.

Mr. Nguyễn Trung Thu further stated that to ensure people and customers can welcome the New Year 2025 joyfully and safely, the PCBD advises individuals and businesses not to set up decorative displays under power lines or within the safety corridor of high-voltage electrical grids, as the risk of short circuits and fires is very high. Absolutely do not set up poles, trees for decoration, erect decorative trees, install broadcasting antennas, and other items at positions where they may fall and collide with power grid structures; do not climb on power poles or electrical structures; do not hook directly onto the power grid.

From now until the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, PCBD will continue to strengthen communication about electrical safety, routinely inspect the power grid, promptly prevent violations of the electrical safety corridor, and resolutely handle cases of intentional violations. Along with that, the company continues to implement preventive measures to reduce incidents caused by violations of the power grid safety corridor according to instructions from superiors and the program set out by PCBD; regularly checking the power grid to promptly detect warnings and guide safety measures for construction sites near the power grid safety corridor; coordinating with local authorities to resolutely address all cases of housing and constructions that violate the power grid safety corridor.

PCBD suggests that during construction near the power grid, if safety is not ensured, the project owner or the construction unit can contact the operating management unit via the phone numbers 19001006 or 19009000 for timely support and guidance to proactively prevent electrical incidents and accidents.

In 2024, PCBD will coordinate with Binh Duong Newspaper, Binh Duong Radio and Television Station, and local media agencies to carry out news reports warning of the risks of unsafe construction near the electrical safety corridor and the safe use of electricity during the rainy and stormy season; many articles will report and warn about violations of the electrical safety corridor, proactively preventing electrical accidents due to violations of the electrical safety corridor. The company also provides information and disseminates newsletters about electrical safety and the protection of the safety corridor of the power grid on the portal of the provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department.
