Tet bonus has become an enterprises’ annual practice for their workers. Depending on performance and contribution to the company, each employee has a different Tet bonus level. This year, despite many difficulties, companies try to budget for taking care of and Tet reward for employees. Up to this point, the whole province has 1,125 enterprises that had reported salary and Tet bonus plan for employees in 2023 with an average Tet bonus of 6.1 million VND. This is considered a high Tet bonus while many businesses are facing difficulties.
Since mid-2022, having just recovered from the Covid-19 pandemic, many businesses have fallen into another tough situation of product output due to geopolitical instability among major countries. Along with that, the increase in input costs due to the influence of gasoline prices and strong exchange rate fluctuations has affected the export of enterprises. In order to create jobs and retain employees, many businesses seek new markets, change products, and rotate workers, no work overtime. Therefore, income of some workers has decreased, making their lives so difficult.
Understanding the difficulties of workers, local authorities and the Provincial Labor Confederation have mobilized enterprises to ensure wages and Tet bonuses for employees; called on the whole society to take care of workers, especially during the upcoming Lunar New Year. Responding to the call of local authorities at all levels and to help employees have a cozy Tet, many businesses have pooled resources to ensure salaries and bonuses for workers at the end of the year. According to the report of 1,125 businesses up to this time, the highest New Year bonus this year is 38 million VND, the highest Lunar New Year bonus is 896 million VND, the average Tet bonus is 6.1 million VND/employee.
Tet bonus has become the culture of businesses, the expectation of employees every Tet. Tet bonus, high or low, more or less, depends on business operations, profits of the enterprise and the contribution of each employee. For enterprises, the Tet bonus implies their business situation, culture, and gratitude to employees. Profitable businesses, high Tet bonuses, will create motivation for employees to contribute more to the business in the coming time. For employees, the Tet bonus represents each individual's contribution to the enterprise. This year, although it is considered to have a high level of Tet bonus, compared to previous years, rewards of many businesses have not met the expectations of employees.
“If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together”, despite knowing that the Tet bonus will help workers have a train or bus ticket to return to their hometown or help their family have a cozy Tet, while many businesses are in hard situation, it will be a great motivation as workers share and sympathize with their company if the Tet bonus is not as expected.
