Update: 29-03-2022 | 12:53:52

Losing love and caring hands of their parents at very early ages, but the orphans in Bau Bang district are not alone in their growth. In that journey, the children always receive the sharing, love and help from the Party committees, authorities and social communities.

Members of the Women's Association of Bau Bang district receive sponsors for orphans and children with special circumstances through the program of "Godmother" launched by the district Women's Association

The godmothers

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a heavy impact on people's lives. Among them, many children have lost their parents. Le Phuong Vy, 11, in Sa The hamlet, Long Nguyen commune would lose the love and protection of her mother. During the recent COVID-19 epidemic, Vy's mother was unfortunately infected by the disease and passed away. My’s family's main income is from tapping rubber latex, but now the rubber plantation is being planted, so the main source of income is also lost. My’s father has liver disease and weak health, so he does not have a stable job. Vy's family situation is now very harsh.

Orphaned at a young age, Huynh Trong Phat lives in Bau Long neighborhood, Lai Uyen town with his uncle and two sisters in an old grade 4 house deep in a small alley. Orphaned at the age of 3, Phat grew up in the loving arms of his uncle. Over the past 7 years, Huynh Van Tien, Phat's biological uncle has done everything to raise the child. However, due to poor health, his income was unstable, and his family life was extremely in hardship.

Knowing the difficult situation of Phat and Vy and through the connection of the Women's Association of the district, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu from Ong Thanh hamlet of Cay Truong 2 commune accepted as the "godmother" of the two children. In addition to encouraging and helping the children to have more confidence to overcome difficulties and losses, Ms. Tu also offers VND 300,000 each month to help them pay for their education. Tu said: “When I learned about the two children's situations, I sympathized with them. Like many other mothers, I just want them to grow up in love and have a good environment to develop. Maybe my support is not great, but I hope with my affection and companionship, it will help the children reduce their difficulties and gain more confidence to continue their dreams."

Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, Chairwoman of the Women's Association of Bau Bang district, said: "Over the past time, the Women's Union of Bau Bang district has directed the establishment to grasp the situation of disadvantaged children in the district. During the first phase, through the review, there were 22 children in difficult circumstances across the district, and we mobilized benefactors to be "godmothers" for 6 children. Currently, we continue to direct the grassroots organization to survey and capture the remaining disadvantaged children in the district to continue advocating and supporting them."

Leaving no children behind

Phat and Vy are just two of many disadvantaged children who have received support from authorities and the community over the past time. Currently, Bau Bang district has 138 children with special circumstances. Accompanying them are agencies, functional units and social communities. Thanks to that, all children in special circumstances in Bau Bang district are always cared for and supported in a timely manner in many aspects.

To support children in special circumstances, especially those affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, both the political system and the people in Bau Bang district have come together. Beside the "godmother" activity of the district Women's Association, other departments, agencies and organizations are also very active in mobilizing socialization resources to help the children. Over the past time, the district's departments, branches and unions have always been the connection of kind hearts to children with special circumstances.

Mr. To Tien Quan, Deputy Head of the Division of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Bau Bang district, said: “In order to realize the goal of leaving no child behind, and in addition to supporting the regimes for children. For children with special circumstances according to the State's regulations, the division also cooperates with other units to mobilize resources to socialize scholarships and gifts for them. It is not only a material value but also a great spiritual value, a source of motivation to help children have more energy and confidence to overcome difficulties to realize their dreams and ambitions to become a useful person to the society.”

In the first quarter of 2022, the People's Committee of Bau Bang district has deducted from the district's budget to visit and give gifts to 135 children with special circumstances on the occasion of the 2022 Lunar New Year at a total value of VND 135 million along with issuing health insurance cards to them. Besides, the district Women's Association mobilized benefactors to be "godmothers" for 6 children, offering monthly support of VND 300,000 for each of the children to encourage and share a part of difficulties with the children's families and the children be able to go to school.
