The delegations are marching to mark a year of traffic safety 2015
At the ceremony, Mr. Dam Trong Cuong, Deputy Director of Binh Duong Provincial Department of Transportation and Head of Binh Duong Provincial Traffic Safety Board, informed of efforts made by local Party Committee, authorities, sectors, and the public in implementing measures of traffic safety assurance, creating robust transformation in prevention of traffic accidents and jams. By such efforts, in 2014, traffic safety has been maintained in the province with reduction of traffic accidents in three aspects of quantity (down by 20%), casualty (down by 17%), and injuries (down by 21%) comparing to 2013. Legal observation awareness of the public has been gradually improved.
Aside from the achievements gained, traffic safety in the province at time and at places is still out of control due to rapidly increasing quantity of traffic participants and vehicles, especially in industrial parks, residential areas, and along major streets of the province. Wrong parking and picking up, over speeding, and over loading are still incurred. Meantime, law observation of some of the public is relatively low. There still exists pavement occupation, intoxication, helmet wearing, limited information dissemination, low street patrol, etc.
According to Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, Member of Standing Board of Binh Duong Proivncial Party Committee, Deputy Chair of Provincial People’s Committee called for remedies to drawbacks in traffic safety control for the past time by effective implementation of measures of traffic safety assurance, improvement of State’s management effectiveness, and the theme of traffic safety year 2015 to tighten up transportation business management and vehicle weigh control under the motto of human lives come first.
Liem requested for implementation of major duties including Directive No. 01/CT-UBND dated January 09, 2015 of Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee on traffice safety assurance in 2015, reduction of traffic accidents by 5-10%, intensified management and inspection on transportation businesses in terms of testing, licensing, registering, and calibrating the vehicles. Besides, punishment should be strictly implemented for offenses of overloading and covering-up of vehicle weigh at weighing stations. Traffic jams should be remedied and encouragement of public transportation should be boosted.
After the ceremony, the delegations marched through Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center, Hung Vuong Street, Pham Ngoc Thach Street, Binh Duong Highway, 30/4 Street, CMT8 Street before ending up at crossroad at the site of Thu Dau Mot City People’s Committee.
