To strengthen communication on trade defense

Update: 07-05-2020 | 11:12:46

According to provincial Department of Industry and Trade, when a series of free trade agreements (FTAs) come into effect, besides the positive aspects, Vietnamese exports would also face many dumping lawsuits and trade defense orders from importing countries. Therefore, in the coming time, Department of Industry and Trade will strengthen the communication on trade defense in accordance with circulars, which stipulates the application of special safeguard measures to implement Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) issued by Ministry of Industry and Trade. Accordingly, trade defense remedies (including anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and safeguard measures) are adopted by the WTO and FTAs in order for countries to combat unfair competition practices in international trade (imports being dumped or subsidized) as well as to prevent the sudden increase of imported goods, causing serious damages to domestic manufacturing industries.

Department of Industry and Trade also suggested that enterprises in the province should carefully study important and legal regulations to protect themselves when tariff barriers are removed as committed.
