To tighten the cooperation relation between Binh Duong and Yamaguchi

From November 13 to 15, a delegation of Yamaguchi province (Japan), led by Governor Muraoka Tsugumasa, visited and worked in Binh Duong, aiming to tighten the cooperation relationship between Binh Duong and Yamaguchi. These are also the next steps for Binh Duong and Japanese partners to continue developing programs of economic cooperation, investment, science and technology, cultural exchange, sports and smart city in the coming time.

Practical results

At the meeting with Becamex IDC, Muraoka Tsugumasa, Governor of Yamaguchi province, said that returning to Binh Duong after 7 years, he was really impressed with the rapid change and the modern face of Binh Duong.

Muraoka Tsugumasa also evaluated that the cooperation and exchange between the two localities in recent years has achieved remarkable results. "On the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, I hope that the good relationship between the two localities would develop to new heights, making joint contributions to the development of the two countries", Yamaguchi prefecture governor said.

Since the establishment of this friendly cooperation relation in 2014, Binh Duong province and Yamaguchi province have actively organized exchange activities, strengthened friendship relations, and expanded economic cooperation and trade promotion in education - training and culture fields.

Right from the first days, with the attention of leaders of the two provinces, Binh Duong has attracted more and more Japanese investors. Up to now, there have been many student delegations from Yamaguchi and Binh Duong provinces to exchange and study in the two localities.

Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Becamex IDC, said that Binh Duong's smart strategies, including the "Inter-city diplomacy strategy", which has been appreciated by international communities. Binh Duong has twinned with 11 foreign provinces and cities, including Yamaguchi (Japan), to form many effective and meaningful projects, such as Binh Duong Smart City project, Binh Duong Innovation Region, smart industrial park, scientific and technological industrial park.

The building of twinning diplomatic relationships helps Binh Duong learn many lessons from major cities in the world, thereby drawing suitable development models for itself in not only investment attraction but also many issues, such as urban planning, transportation, logistics infrastructure development, innovation and science technology development...

To stimulate extensive cooperation

Currently, among 65 countries and territories investing in Binh Duong, Japan ranks second with a total investment of nearly 6 billion USD, accounting for 15% of the total investment capital in the province.

Japanese FDI projects in Binh Duong mainly focus on areas, such as: manufacture of electronic components, electronic circuits and chips; automobile production and assembly; iron and steel; other supporting industries.

According to provincial Department of Planning and Investment, on average, each project of a Japanese enterprise investing in Binh Duong has a capital of over 20 million USD. This is the highest average number among countries investing in Binh Duong at present. As noted, most Japanese companies and transnational corporations have investment projects in Binh Duong, such as: Panasonic, Toshiba, Foster, Tokyu, Fujikura, Aeon Mall...

Recently, Japanese investors are continuing to strongly pour investment capital into infrastructure, urban development, trade - service industries... These projects have been contributing to the socio-economic development of Binh Duong.

At the meeting with the delegation of Yamaguchi province (Japan), Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that effective external economic activities, especially the fact that Binh Duong has twinned with 11 foreign provinces and cities, including Yamaguchi (Japan), have contributed to attracting more and more foreign investment projects into Binh Duong province.

With nearly 200 Japanese investors, Binh Duong is currently the leading locality in the country in terms of the number of Japanese investors. This is the result of improving the business investment environment that Binh Duong has done in recent years to earn trust of Japanese investors.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated and thanked the cooperation of the Yamaguchi provincial government in connecting Binh Duong with Japanese partners, contributing to deepening the cooperative relationship between Binh Duong province and Yamaguchi province, between Binh Duong province and other Japanese partners in recent years.

Minh affirmed that Binh Duong wishes to continue strengthening extensive cooperation with Yamaguchi province in fields of science and technology development, human resource exchange, hi-tech agriculture, education - training, healthcare, sports... 

Yamaguchi Prefecture is located on Honshu Island, has a geographic area of 6,112 km2, and a population of about 1.5 million. Yamaguchi has strengths in industrial development, especially supporting industries, car part manufacturing industries. Yamaguchi province is also home to many small and medium-sized enterprises, which agrees with Vietnam's economic development model and Binh Duong province's advocacy of Japanese investment.
