Update: 11-05-2023 | 12:57:29

After a long journey of construction and development, Binh Duong has grown strongly, achieved great and proud achievements in all fields. Continuing the journey, Binh Duong is creating a civilized, modern and smart city.

Synchronous infrastructure

Compared to the period of being established in 1997, Binh Duong’s economy has so far grown 104 times, creating a miracle of economic development in Vietnam. During the local development process, Binh Duong has accumulated a strong foundation to prepare for the next development steps. Especially, the local infrastructure system is increasingly completed with high quality, green and environmentally friendly industrial parks, interspersed with high-class urban areas for experts and social housing areas for low-income people, modern commercial and service centers that are very crowded. This way of planning the industrial-urban ecosystem creates equality in the enjoyment of social infrastructure, health and education system for people from all strata.

Binh Duong new city is the highlight on the development way of the province

The local modern and synchronous infrastructure system has created the foundation for FDI attraction and urban development. Binh Duong has focused on investing in many modern traffic works such as national Highway 13, My Phuoc - Tan Van - Bau Bang street, Thu Bien - Dat Cuoc street, Bach Dang 2 bridge, DT743 street, North Tan Uyen - Phu Giao - Bau Bang arterial street...to promote the development of a series of industrial parks and compounds. Along with that, infrastructure facilities in terms of electricity, water supply and drainage, information, logistics, industrial parks and compounds in Binh Duong are typical examples on modernity and synchronization with professional management.

Urban system upgraded

With the successful industrialization and modernization process, Binh Duong has quickly formed up an urban system in the direction of civilization and modernity, achieving an urbanization rate equivalent to that of countries with industrial development. In 2022, the province's urbanization rate reached 84%. In the urban system of Binh Duong, Thu Dau Mot city is the administrative, economic and cultural center that has become a city under the province since 2013. Binh Duong new city with an area of about 1,200 hectares planned and invested methodically in infrastructure with the core role in balanced economic development, will become the "capital" of Binh Duong in terms of science, technology and innovation, helping Binh Duong soon become a city under the central management.

Located next to Binh Duong new city, Tan Uyen was formerly a purely agricultural district with very heavy consequences left by the war. Overcoming many difficulties and challenges, Tan Uyen has now "put on" the appearance of a civilized and modern city with inter-provincial and inter-regional streets. Factories and shopping centers, markets, commercial housing areas, high-rise buildings have loomed large across the city and people's living standards have been improved.

Up to now, after nearly 10 years of implementation, the system of urban technical infrastructure in Tan Uyen has been invested and built in a synchronous, civilized and modern direction. Tan Uyen has been recognized as a third-class city under Binh Duong province in the joy and excitement of the local government and people. Doan Hong Tuoi, Chairman of Tan Uyen city’s People's Committee said: “Tan Uyen has become a city and this will create a strong driving force, increasing investment attraction, and promoting the socio-economic development, contributing to speeding up the urban development of the whole province and improving the people's quality of life. Becoming a city under the province is also a premise for the construction of Tan Uyen urban area to meet standards of a second-class city by 2025”.

Nearly 24 years since the re-establishment of the district in 1999, from a purely agricultural district not yet classified as an urban area, Di An developed strongly, becoming a fourth-class city. Next, it was recognized as a third-class city and has just been honored to be recognized by the Prime Minister as a second-class city under Binh Duong province.

With the urbanization rate of 82%, Di An city is established by a road and railway transport system, along with the belt roads 2 and 3, contributing to the development of urban areas in the region and Ho Chi Minh city. Especially, Di An city is typical for the model of industrialization in association with urbanization with 6 industrial parks. Di An today is creating a civilized and modern urban shape, becoming a worth-living place towards a smart city.

In a bid to develop and create urban areas, up to now, according to the classification of administrative units, Binh Duong province has 4 cities (Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An, Di An, Tan Uyen), 1 town of Ben Cat and 4 districts (Phu Giao, Dau Tieng, Bau Bang, North Tan Uyen) with 91 communes, wards and townships (45 wards, 5 townships and 41 communes). According to urban classification, Binh Duong has 1 first-class city (Thu Dau Mot), 2 second-class cities (Thuan An, Di An), 2 third-class cities (Ben Cat town, Tan Uyen city), 5 fifth-class cities under district-level management (Dau Tieng, Phuoc Vinh, Lai Uyen, Tan Binh, Tan Thanh townships).

Smartness, creation

In order to create a breakthrough for prosperous and sustainable development, Binh Duong is building up a smart city - Innovation Region. Up to now, Binh Duong has been honored for 5 times in a row as one of 21 cities and regions with typical smart city development strategies of the world (Smart 21). Binh Duong has also been honored in Top 7 World Smart Communities for two times in a row, which was an honor, pride, and a worthy achievement for the efforts in choosing the development strategy of the province over the years.

Especially, the province is implementing the planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 with a strategic planning framework consisting of 6 pillars to overcome the middle-income trap. The long-term goal is to turn Binh Duong into a globally competitive locality in terms of attracting, developing and retaining scientific talents, creating a foundation for development in the next periods.

The province has spent a lot of resources, with creative ways to invest in upgrading and improving infrastructure facilities, especially in terms of transport, industrial manufacture and services, creating a basic foundation to attract investment, especially foreign direct investment to promote socio-economic growth and improve people's lives. I speak highly and praise achievements done by the people of Binh Duong province over the past time while believing that Binh Duong will have more breakthroughs in economic development in the coming time, creating a driving force for socio-economic development to serve the people and the country.
