Towards ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, civilized farmers

Early July 17, Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development chaired an online national conference to review the 3-year implementation of the National Target Program on new-style rural construction in the period of 2021-2025. Attending the event in Binh Duong were Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments, sectors and localities in the province.

As of now, the whole country has had 6,022 out of 8,177 communes reaching new-style rural criteria, an increase of 11.3% compared to the end of 2020. On average, the whole country has met 16.9 criteria per commune. There have been 263 district-level units in 58 centrally-run provinces and cities that have been recognized by the Prime Minister to complete their tasks and meet new-style rural standards, an increase of 90 units compared to the end of 2020. There have been 19 centrally-run provinces and cities, with 100% of communes reaching new-style rural standards... Under the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) program, up to now, the whole country has evaluated and classified 9,852 OCOP products with 3 stars or more. Of these, there have been 66.9% of 3-star products, 32.2% of 4-star products, 0.6% of 5-star potential products and 42 5-star products.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Hoan requested that in the coming time, relevant localities and units will agree on the implementation of the New-style Rural Development Program in association with "ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, and civilized farmers". Along with that, localities need to review and perfect their system of mechanisms and policies to support the construction of new-style rural areas in order to promptly remove obstacles, ensuring that they are suitable to actual conditions; mobilize all resources to implement the New-style Rural Development Program; step by step improve the quality of people’s life, gradually narrowing the gap between rural and urban areas...
