Trade union locals accompany enterprises in taking care of workers

Not only excelling at protecting employees’legitimate rights and interests, trade union locals have also accompanied employers in implementing activities to take care of their material and spiritual lives. Since then, these activities have created more motivation for employees to overcome difficulties in life, work with peace of mind and dedicate themselves to enterprises’sustainable development.

Favorable policies for employees

The trade union local of Long Yi Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd at Ben Cat town-based My Phuoc 2 Industrial Park has effectively promoted its function of protecting trade unionists and employees ‘legitimate rights and interests. Nguyen Dinh Trong, Chairman of the company's trade union local said that the company now has nearly 2,700 workers. To help laborers feel secure to work and stick with the company for a long time, over the past time, the Executive Board of the company’s trade union local actively coordinated with directorate to constantly improve the efficiency of taking care of laborers’lives by good welfare policies. Especially, the company's welfare policies for employees were brought into the content of negotiation and signing of collective labor deals by the Executive Board of the trade union local, ensuring long-term rights and interests for employees, thereby creating trust and attachment of trade unionists and employees to the Trade Union and long-term working relationship with the company.

Accordingly, the company is currently implementing a collective labor deal with more favorable terms for employees. Specifically, the basic salary for employees after the probation period is VND5.55 million per person per month, higher than the basic salary in the Region 1. The company supports VND 300,000 for each worker on May Day and Mid-Autumn Festival; gives laborers with the monthly living allowance of VND400,000 per person; provides laborers with the 13th month Tet bonus with the highest level of 3 months of basic salary; donates gifts from 1 to 2 gold taels for employees with a prescribed period of seniority, depending on the time of working with the company; gives petrol support from VND 100,000 to VND1 million per person per month, depending on the distance from the place of residence to the company...

Similarly, the Trade Union local and directorate of Thong Dung Shoes Co.Ltd. in Thuan An city have also negotiated and signed a collective labor deal with more favorable terms for employees. Specifically, the company is implementing a welfare policy for employees, including the monthly bonus for industriousness at VND600,000 per person, the monthly fuel allowance of VND 200,000 per person; the monthly housing rental assistance of VND 250,000 per person... Whilst, at Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd in Di An city, the collective labor deal has brought employees more benefits such as supporting bus fees back home on Tet; organizing a special main meal with the value higher than the normal level of VND 10,000 per person once a month; maintaining year-end bonuses with the minimum level of one-half of one month's wage; paying the night shift allowance of 30% of salary under the provisions of the Labor Law, plus additional VND 5,000 per hour, equivalent to VND 500,000 per month; providing seniority bonus for employees who have worked for 10 years or more; giving lucky money for workers at the beginning of the year...

Creating playground for employees

Along with protecting legitimate rights and interests, trade union locals have focused on taking care of trade unionists and employees ‘material and spiritual lives. For example, the trade union locals of Long Yi Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd., Thong Dung Shoes Co., Ltd... have always maintained the organization of sports, cultural and artistic activities such as organizing the annual men's - women's mini soccer tournaments, art performance, flower arrangement contests...on great holidays. At Long Yi Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd., the mini-soccer tournament for male and female workers is organized annually by the company’s trade union local, always attracting 20 teams from production units in the whole company.

Mr. Trong added that through the organization of sports, cultural and artistic activities, the company’s trade union local has created a useful, practical, healthy and attractive playground with the participation of numerous laborers, thereby contributing to taking care of the spiritual life of employees, promoting the movement of physical training and sports among them to have good health in order to work well. These activities have also had a positive impact on building a healthy socio-cultural environment, repelling social evils out of employees' lives. On the other hand, they have also created opportunities for trade unionists and employees to exchange, learn and tighten the spirit of solidarity in production.

In terms of the company's trade union activities, Tian Yuan, Director of Long Yi Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd., said that over the past time, the trade union local accompanied the company in taking care of the lives of employees while launching patriotic emulation movements, contributing to the company’s development, creating jobs and stable incomes for workers. “Especially, every year, we coordinate with the Trade Union local to effectively implement democratic regulations, organize a conference for employee and have periodic dialogues at workplace quarterly and if necessary. These activities have helped the company’s directorate understand employees ‘thoughts and aspirations to put forward more reasonable policies, thereby constantly taking better care of employees' lives so that they can do better in their professional work and stick with the company for a long time", said Mr. Tian Yuan.

The fact that trade union locals sign labor collective deals with companies ‘directorates will make interests of the sides more united while they will be more responsible for the implementation of labor rights and obligations, thereby contributing to harmonize interests, limit unnecessary conflicts in the working relationship at companies, creating conditions for a close bond between employees and employers
