Trade unions at all levels care for and improving the lives of workers

In the first 6 months of 2022, trade unions at all levels in the province have focused on practical activities to care for and protect the legitimate interests of trade union members and employees in order to ease difficulties due to the heavy impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and price hikes.

For the sake of workers

Determining that taking care of and protecting legitimate rights and legitimate interests of trade union members and employees is an important task, trade unions at all levels in the province have actively participated in formulating relevant policies and laws regarding the rights of workers. Specifically, the provincial Trade Union has actively advised the provincial Party Committee to issue the Action Program of "Continuing to improve the material and spiritual life of workers in Binh Duong province" and the Action Program to implementation of Resolution No. 02 of the Politburo on "Renovating the organization and operation of Vietnamese Trade Union in the new situation". Provincial Trade Union also actively participates with sectors and Departments of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to give opinions and contents to advise the provincial People's Committee to issue implementation documents, guiding documents and the Resolution. No. 08 of the Prime Minister on the implementation of the policy of housing rental support for employees, and contribute opinions on the draft decree stipulating the minimum wage for employees working under labor contracts.

At the same time, trade unions at all levels regularly pay attention to and take care of employees' interests and solve pressing problems through dialogue and collective bargaining, thereby, constantly improving the living standards of employees. Specifically, in the first 6 months of 2022, the whole province had 766 agencies and units organizing conferences of cadres and civil servants, reaching the rate of 100%; 467 enterprises outside the state sector have grassroots trade unions that are eligible to hold employee conferences and 1,362 enterprises being able to hold dialogues at the workplace, reaching the rate of 54%. In particular, grassroots trade unions also actively build, negotiate, and sign or re-sign new and collective labor agreements with more favorable provisions for employees. Up to now, 2,199 valid collective labor agreements have been available in the whole province.

The grassroots trade unions also actively mobilized and negotiated with business owners to improve the quality of shift meals for employees. Through advocacy, 135 more enterprises have improved the quality of mid-shift meals according to the prescribed level of Conclusion 03/ KL-TLD of the Vietnamese General Trade Union, reaching the rate of 67.5%. In addition, the superior trade union has also coordinated with the provincial Job Introduction Center, the Investment Service Consulting Joint Stock Company, the provincial Youth Workers and Young Labor Support Center to deploy and organize the job exchange floor to employees and grassroots unions through Zalo groups and Facebook fanpage of superior unions. Accordingly, more than 10,000 young people, union members and workers have been supported to find new jobs and stabilize their income.

To improve production efficiency

In recent years, patriotic emulation movements have also been organized and widely launched by trade unions at all levels among trade unionists and workers such as the emulation movement of "Quality and Creative Labor" in respond to the program of one million initiatives to overcome drawbacks, be creative and determined to win the COVID-19 pandemic by attracting a large number of trade union members and workers  with thousands tens of thousands of valuable initiatives and creations. In which, many initiatives showed the creativity of workers during the complicated epidemic time; many initiatives were with great adaptability to the new normal to timely response to production and work requirements of agencies and units. At the same time, initiatives with high benefiting value have contributed to increase labor productivity, and reduce costs to bring economic benefits to enterprises.

Typically, the improvement initiative for the efficiency of VAC transmission 1 Model 21A by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son of Midea Consumer Electric Vietnam Co. Ltd. in Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park 1 has contributed to the benefit of 48,379 hours a year with a total value of economic benefits for businesses at more than VND 1.1 billion a year. Or the improvement initiative of "reducing waste products at the stage in the production process to increase the rate of finished products and product quality" by Mr. Trinh Phong Nha of Saigon Stec Co. Ltd. has reduced error occurred at the process of mounting the image sensor. The innovative initiative has helped reduce the cost of defective goods by more than VND 340 million a month for the business.

According to Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan, Chairwoman of the provincial Trade Union, in the last months of the year, the provincial Trade Union continued to carry out many activities to take care of and protect the legitimate interests of union members and workers. In which, it organized meetings and dialogues between provincial leaders and workers, and organized refresher and professional training courses related to organization, finance, building collective labor agreement with focus on guiding trade union congresses at all levels and direct trade unions at all levels to coordinate with enterprises to strengthen training on occupational safety and health, prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. The provincial Trade Union also established 15 representative offices in industrial zones; thereby, speeding up the progress of developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions, and introducing elite union members to the CPV for consideration and admission.

“Particularly, trade unions at all levels deployed and organized activities to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the establishment of Vietnamese Trade Union on July 28, activities to care for and award scholarships to children of public employees,” said Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan.
