Trade Unions at all levels further acts as bridge to help businesses overcome difficulties

Provincial Labor Union has sufficiently assessed the operation of trade unions at all levels and businesses-laborers ‘difficulties caused by Covid-19 pandemic over the past five months. From the assessment, the Trade Unions at all levels of the province will continue acting as a bridge to businesses and laborers in surmounting difficulties for life stability and production development.

Grasping real situation

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) has just had a working visit to Binh Duong province about the situation of businesses and laborers amid Covid-19 pandemic as well as support orientations for needy cases from the Government and VGCL’s support packages. According to a report by provincial Labor Union, provincial Trade Unions at all levels well upheld their functions, tasks in taking care of and protecting laborers and trade unionsists’legitimate rights and interests over the past five months. The local Trade Union cadres also actively took part in making social criticism, setting up policies directly relating to trade unionists and laborers.

In addition, provincial Trade Unions at all levels implemented democratic regulations and dialogues at workplaces; negotiated and signed collective labor deals with more profitable provisions for laborers…They continued working very effectively with practical programs, namely “Gathering in Tet holiday”, “Sentimental bus”, “Workers ‘Month”, “Action Month on Labor Safety and Hygiene”…

More than 98% of laborers at province-based companies have came back to work after the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival. But, the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic has badly affected socio-economic aspects, laborers and enterprises, especially small and medium-sized ones.

As of late May, the whole province had a total of 280 enterprises stopping operation with 143,910 laborers hit. In the face of the situation, provincial Trade Unions at all levels accompanied enterprises and laborers; effectively propagandized Covid-19 prevention and control at workplaces. Provincial Labor Union instructed relevant units to support jobless laborers with extremely difficult circumstances with the subsidy level of VND500,000 each case from the Trade Union’s financial resource.

Accordingly, there were more than 1,700 cases getting VND856million in subsidy. Provincial Trade Unions at all levels also donated nearly VND670million to 94 cases from the fund for laborers with extremely difficult circumstances. The whole province has so far had more than 300,000 laborers supported by many forms…

Solutions to support enterprises, laborers

In the framework of the working session with the VGCL, representatives of the Trade Unions of province-based Industrial Parks, vocational training schools…put forward solutions to be able to effectively carry out support packages under the Government’s Resolution No.42 for those who have been affected by Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Chairwoman of provincial Labor Union, from now to year-end, provincial Labor Union will further focus on solutions to support enterprises and laborers affected by Covid-19 pandemic; implement targets on admitting more members, establishing trade union locals, improving the quality and quantity of collective labor deals, building up harmonious labor relations…

At the working session, provincial Labor Union also proposed the Government to map out solutions to remove queries in realizing support policies for enterprises and laborers facing difficulties caused by Covid-19 pandemic while instructing trade unions at all levels to stabilize labor relations, adjust their targets, tasks amid the impacts from Covid-19 pandemic…
