Traffic infrastructure greatly contributes to socio-economic development, says provincial People’s Committee Chairman Tran Van Nam

Provincial Department of Transportation and Public Works, on January 27, held a conference to review its activities in 2014 and implement tasks through 2015, in attendance of provincial People’s Committee Chairman Tran Van Nam.

Last year, the whole province built 82 traffic works estimated at VND1.775trillion. There were also 190 works on rural traffic and urban rejuvenation carried out with total expense of VND129.7bln. The total amount of goods transported was 121,4 mln tons, up 27.2% compared to 2013. The situation of traffic accidents saw decline in all three criteria: numbers of accidents, fatalities and injuries.

Addressing the conference, Mr.Nam highly appreciated achievements done by the sector while emphasizing that traffic infrastructure greatly contributed to the local socio-economic development. He also asked for the sector to put focus on planning work and its management and announcement for better implementation; develop public traffic systems under the trend of modernity and fuel saving…
