In addition to various forms of tourism, Binh Duong possesses significant potential for the development of heritage tourism. This includes historical and cultural sites, as well as revolutionary bases, which embody the rich historical and traditional values of the region. The journey to the "red addresses" within the province continues to thrive, drawing numerous participants, particularly from the younger generation.

Development potentials

As a region steeped in revolutionary tradition, Binh Duong continues to bear numerous marks linked to its historical sites. These locations not only preserve and document historical evidence but also serve as tourist attractions, imparting lessons on patriotic traditions, local history, and patriotism to the youth of today and tomorrow.

Mr. Pham Hong Thi, Deputy Director of Binh Duong provincial Tourism Promotion Center, stated that with advantageous conditions regarding transportation, infrastructure, and tourism potential, Binh Duong possesses numerous opportunities to cultivate source-return tourism. The province's array of historical and cultural sites, along with renowned revolutionary bases rich in value, represents a significant potential that is currently being prioritized for promotion and development in the realm of source-return tourism.

Prominent destinations that have drawn numerous visitors in recent times within the province include: Ben Cat Southwestern Tunnels Historical Site (also referred to as Iron Triangle Tunnels in Ben Cat city); D War Zone Historical Site (Bac Tan Uyen district); Thuan An Hoa War Zone Historical Site (Thuan An city); Phu Loi Prison Historical Site (Thu Dau Mot city); Vinh Loi War Zone Historical Site; and Ba Kien Bridge Watchtower Victory Site (Tan Uyen city).

Additionally, the Provincial Museum and the Cuu Long Corps Museum, previously known as the 4th Corps Museum (Di An City), are significant sites rich in historical and cultural value. They attract numerous delegations from both within and outside the province, eager to explore the journey back to the source. Annually, these destinations receive hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Significant journeys

Throughout March, numerous origin destinations within the province have hosted a variety of visitor groups eager to explore and learn. Mr. Nguyen Duy Thai, the individual responsible for guiding at the Vinh Loi War Zone Historical Site, noted that early March saw the arrival of 15 visitor groups, marking an increase compared to previous months. In addition to local youth union members, many groups comprised students, university attendees, officials, civil servants, and employees from various agencies and units within the province.

Recently, Phu Giao district Youth Union selected Vinh Loi Historical Site to host the Journey to the Source event titled “Continuing Tradition - Firmly Stepping into the Future.” Approximately 100 prominent Youth Union and Association officials from across the district participated in this initiative.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hang, Secretary of the Phu Giao district Youth Union, stated that Vinh Loi War Zone made significant contributions of both human and material resources to the revolution, playing an active role in the victories of two prolonged resistance wars, the most notable being the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign in 1975, which fully liberated the South and unified the nation. Consequently, the district Youth Union selected this location to conduct a journey aimed at educating the younger generation about revolutionary ideals, patriotism, and national pride.

Under the enthusiastic guidance of the relic site staff, each participant gained a deeper understanding of the remarkable military achievements and the exceptional individuals who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. These narratives not only resonated with the youth but also ignited their pride and sense of responsibility to uphold the tradition and contribute to the development of an increasingly prosperous homeland. “The members of the group and I felt the sacred atmosphere of a land that has borne witness to countless sacrifices and hardships during the war years. The memorial steles, reliefs depicting the heroic battles, and the relics preserved here serve as living pages of history, enhancing our comprehension of the resilient fighting spirit of our ancestors,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hang remarked following the trip.

One of the venues selected by numerous groups for a journey to the source, specifically a journey to the red address, associated with the organization of the admission ceremony for members of the Union this March, is the Cuu Long Military Corps Museum. Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Bao, Secretary of the Youth Union at Le Quy Don Secondary School (Ben Cat City), stated that the school's Youth Union recently organized a program to return to the source, combined with the admission ceremony for students at the Cuu Long Military Corps Museum. According to Mr. Bao, the choice of this location aims to "help students more profoundly appreciate the spirit of patriotism and the sacrifices made by previous generations." "Being admitted to the Union in a historical setting, with the solemn atmosphere of this museum, will undoubtedly create an unforgettable memory for students, instilling pride in officially becoming a member of the Union," Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Bao remarked.

In addition to the Cuu Long Corps Museum, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Bao noted his participation in source-returning activities at the Iron Triangle Tunnels Relic Site and Phu Loi Prison, among others. Each location he visited deepened his understanding of his homeland's history and heightened his appreciation for the sacrifices made by previous generations. Reflecting on this source-returning journey, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Bao remarked, "During my first visit to the Cuu Long Corps Museum, I was particularly struck by the engaging and accessible display space. The artifacts and narratives presented here are profoundly resonant, especially the images of soldiers from the past. If given the opportunity, I will certainly return, not only to expand my knowledge but also to remind myself to live with greater ideals and responsibilities."

Root tourism transcends conventional sightseeing and entertainment; it serves as a profound opportunity for participants to gain insights into history and tradition. This experience fosters a deeper pride in the revolutionary heritage of their ancestors, enhances their love for their homeland, and inspires greater motivation to excel in their studies and work, ultimately contributing to the prosperity and strength of their community.
