U13 Vietnam – Japan International Youth Football Championship 2018 kicks off

Morning 14 Dec, the inauguration ceremony of the U13 Vietnam-Japan International Youth Football Championship took place in Binh Duong New City. Attending the opening ceremony were Tran Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly delegation; Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of BOD of Becamex; and Umeda Kunio, Japanese Ambassador in Vietnam. The tournament was hosted by Binh Duong Becamex IDC and Japanese partners, took place from 14 to 16 Dec 2018.

The tournament consisted of 8 teams, including 4 U13 teams from Japan and 4 teams from Vietnam. The teams were divided into two groups: Kawasaki Frontale, Becamex Binh Duong, Olympic Lyon Ho Chi Minh, Tokyu Reyes (Group A); Kawasaki Select, Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, Binh Phuoc, U13 Hanoi (Group B).

Teams played in round-robin, then two best teams of each group went into the semi-finals, then the final. After the final, there was a special friendly match between the best players selected from the eight teams.

The tournament contributed to the close relationship between the two countries Vietnam and Japan, promoting the cooperation and development of the two countries in every field.
