Part 2: Breathrough of Binh New City

In 2010, Binh Duong started the construction project of Binh Duong New City for the goal of sustainable development. After three-year construction, the image of Binh Duong new city is being formed up, contributing to promoting the local urban and industrial development.

Real situation of Binh Duong New City

Binh Duong defines that industrial development must go together with urban development. For a sustainable industrial development, Binh Duong needs to focus on urban development. Construction of the Binh Duong New City project is seen as an indispensable thing for this process. Hence, the Binh Duong New City project with 1,000 hectares in total approved by the Government is becoming a modern and civilized urban area and is a center district of centrally-governed city Binh Duong by 2020.

The Binh Duong concentrated political-administrative center in Binh Duong New City is expected to be put into operation in 2014

After completion, the city will be the economic and political center of Binh Duong province and provide accommodation for around 125,000 residents and 400,000 laborers. It will consist of main items such as concentrated political-administrative center, conference center, int’l exhibition, hi-tech park, Eastern Int’l University, banking and finance center, working office, hi-class accommodation area…So far, many works in the new city such as Lucky Square convention center, the central park and Eastern International University, Ngo Thoi Nhiem primary and secondary school have been completed and come into operation. Mapletree Group of Singapore has also spent US$400mln on a hi-tech park in the new city while the US$1.2mln-Tokyu Binh Duong Garden City urban area invested by Japan’s Tokyu Corporation and Becamex IDC  is now under construction herein. Besides, some townhouse, apartment and villa projects have been completed.

Under 2020’s development orientations, Binh Duong’s proportion of services will account for 42% of the local economic structure. Infrastructure development to absorb investment projects in the service sector, therefore, is very indispensable. The new city is seen as a place to make a breakthrough for increasing the value of services in the future. With the current results, the new city is making a strong impact on the development of the local service sector.

Work benefits State and people

Along with many other key works, the Binh Duong integrated political and administrative center in Binh Duong New City was commenced for construction by the end of 2010 with CPG of Singapore as the design consultant.

The Binh Duong integrated political and administrative center covers 20 hectares with a modern and environmentally friendly architechture by CPG of Singapore and is highly appreciated by the Vietnam Architecture Council. After completion, it will serve as seats of the provincial Party and government agencies.

The center has been basically fulfilled and is expected to be put into operation in early next year. Once completed, the center will greatly contribute to enhancing the importance of the Binh Duong New City and it is considered as a symbol of the province's development in a new era. This is a breakthrough of the local authority in administrative reform process toward a transparent and modern administration, spurring economic and int’l exchanges at the high level.

Regarding Binh Duong New City, Pham Si Liem, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Association that he felt very impressive when visiting the new city. It bears the image of a modern urban areas in western countries with special stamp in urban zoning and construction. Similarly, according to Nguyen Tan Van, Chairman of the Vietnam Architechture Association, this is a national work and is zoned methodically. Once completed, it will be a hightlight for the modern urban and industrial center of the region.

The new city is also highly appreciated by representatives of foreign corporations with much experience in urban construction. Toshiaki Koshimura, Chairman of Japan’s Tokyu Group said that this will be a wonderful urban center of Vietnam in the future.

Possibly speaking, Binh Duong New City is a key work for the integration and development period and with the current situation, it is a benifical work to the State and residents. In the future, this is the political-economic and cultural center of Binh Duong with all services and infrastructure facilities built in a synchronous way that are linked closely with neighboring provinces and cities under the Southern key economic zone…
