After 10-year development, Ben Cat, which was previously known as an agricultural district, has quickly become a locality having strong development in terms of industrial manufacture with many large-scale industrial parks and new urban areas built methodically, contributing to promoting the local growth of services. 

This is part of National highway 13, connecting all socio-economic activities of Binh Duong to big economic hubs of HCM city and other highland provinces.

Along wih many main items fulfilled and put into operation, Binh Duong New City has witnessed the birth of new urban areas, contributing to promoting the development of the local services sector in the integration and development period. With an important strategic position, Binh Duong New City has received attention from provincial leaders for its construction process, aiming to promote the local comprehensive development in the future.

Industrial development brings about urban development while urban development contributes to raising the growth value of industrial manufacture. With an important strategic position, Binh Duong possesses a lot of advantages for industrial development, greatly contributing to the development of the southern key economic zone. Hence, urban development is also an important task to realize the above target.

…to connection

Binh Duong has over time paid attention to traffic infrastructure development with many key works. They have not only created a driving force for industrial development, but also connected the province’s center area with other localities in the province and the region. For example, the National Highway 13 has been upgraded to connect with HCM city, an economic-cultural center of the southern region and localities in the southeastern region and central Highlands region. It has contributed to promoting the development of northern districts in Binh Duong and other localities, including Binh Phuoc and central Highlands region…

Other highlight is the Tan An-My Phuoc expressway with total investment capital of more than VND3.5trillion. Binh Duong has just planned to develop a metro system connecting with HCM city's economic hub. As planned, Binh Duong will become a centrally-governed city by 2020 and the development of a metro system linking Binh Duong with HCM city's economic hub will open new opportunities for sustainable economic development, shaping the image of Binh Duong city in the future.

Proper awareness

Possibly speaking, urban development has helped promote the province’s industrial development, particularly in investment attraction.

Binh Duong has so far absorbed 2,160 FDI companies with total investment capital of US$18bln and reached the annual industrial manufacture production of nearly VND141trillion…Noticeably, the province last year took the lead in FDI attraction investment with US$2.6bln. In Q1 2013 alone, the province lured additional US$643mln in FDI capita. It is sure that apart from methodically-built industrial parks, the above results have come from the local authority’s efforts in urban development.

For better results, Binh Duong has focused on calling for all economic sectors to take part in urban and industrial development. This has been greatly appreciated by the central authority. Of course, there are some shortcomings for change in this matter. Binh Duong’s urban development aims at the goal of sustainable development, so there needs to be a proper awareness about this matter.
