Vietnam’s consistent policy is to support foreign investment especially that from the US, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung while receiving Jeffrey Immelt, Head of President Barack Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness in Hanoi on August 24.
Mr Dung said that Vietnam is pleased with positive developments in bilateral ties, which have practically benefited both countries.
Vietnam hopes that the two sides will make greater efforts to further develop their relationship in various fields particularly in economics, trade and investment, he said.
The Government leader asked Mr Immelt and his council to take practical actions to back the US early recognition of Vietnam as a market economy and the two countries’ negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement.
The council should promote the US direct investment activities in Vietnam to raise two-way trade to a more impressive figure in the coming time, Mr Dung noted.
The American official said that the US investment projects in Vietnam have been carried out effectively and many US investors have been successful in the country.
He affirmed that his council will always support proposals made by PM Dung and suggested both sides should expand investment cooperation in aviation, energy, medical equipment production, science and technology.
