VFF official lauds solidarity of Vietnamese community in Japan

Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Huu Dung hailed the solidarity of the Vietnamese community in Japan while meeting with representatives of Vietnamese people’s associations here in Tokyo on June 9.

The VFF delegation has a meeting with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka and leaders of OV associations from the Kyushu - Okinawa region and south-central Japan

Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu said the Vietnamese community in Japan is large and has received the Party, State, sectors and all-level authorities’ special attention, which is great spiritual support for the expatriates.

He also underlined the VFF’s important role in overseas Vietnamese (OV) affairs, national solidarity enhancement, and promotion of their contributions to the homeland.

Reporting on OV affairs in Japan, Minister Counsellor Nguyen Duc Minh said the Vietnamese community in Japan is developing fast with many associations established such as the ones for the Vietnamese language, businesses, intellectuals, and Buddhist followers. Favourable conditions for OV affairs here include the two countries’ flourishing relations and the high sense of responsibility, activeness, and solidarity of the associations’ representatives.

At the meeting, Dung highlighted that OVs in Japan have significantly contributed to bilateral relations, and solidarity is a factor helping the community to grow strongly.

He affirmed the Party, State, and VFF’s attention, support, and openness to OV’s opinions. He asked the Vietnamese Embassy and associations in Japan to continue giving feedback about OV-related rights and policies, pledging that the VFF will send their opinions to domestic ministries, sectors, and agencies.

Also on June 9, the Vietnamese Embassy held a ceremony to commend 16 collectives and 35 individuals for their outstanding achievements in OV affairs last year. Vice President of the VFF Central Committee Dung and Ambassador Hieu attended the event.

On June 7 - 8, the VFF delegation paid a working visit to Fukuoka during which they had a working session with the Vietnamese Consulate General in the prefecture and leaders of OV associations from the Kyushu - Okinawa region and south-central Japan.

The delegation visited the GAG Japanese Language Institute, which is implementing a project on teaching Japanese free of charge to vocational training and disadvantaged students. They also attended a Vietnamese language class opened by the Vietnamese People Association in Fukuoka for the second- and third-generation children of OVs in Japan./.
