The government of Vietnam has always supported and created favourable conditions for ActionAid International to operate effectively in Vietnam, said Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan at a reception for the organization’s general director Joanna Derobah Kerr in Hanoi on July 16.

Ms Doan expressed her hope that Action Aid will continue to provide support to Vietnam, especially to poor women, children, the disabled, and Agent Orange victims.

Ms Doan praised ActionAid’s activities which have helped poor women and children around the world, and thanked the organization for its generous contributions to sustainable development, poverty reduction and charity activities in Vietnam.

In reply, Ms Kerr acknowledged the efforts made by the government of Vietnam to reduce poverty, fulfill social development goals and improve women’s role in society.

She said ActionAid International is committed to continued charity activities in Vietnam and thanked Ms Doan for her suggestions on ActionAid’s future operations.
