Viet Nam levies zero import duty on 31 commodities from Cambodia, including live poultry, poultry meat and by-products, and unprocessed tobacco leaves between September 13, 2021 and December 31, 2022.
This is part of the Government's Decree No.83/2021/ND-CP prescribing special preferential import tariffs to implement a bilateral trade agreement between Viet Nam and Cambodia in 2021-2022.
To enjoy tax break, imports must have certificates of origin (C/O) form S issued by Cambodia's competent agencies and must pass through customs at border crossings, as detailed in Appendix III of the decree.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first quarter 2021, the two-way trade grew 103.68 percent on-year to US$2.69 billion. Of the total, Viet Nam’s imports from Cambodia reached US$1.47 billion, up 443 percent on year.
Between 2010 and 2019, the bilateral trade posted an average growth rate of 18 percent annually./.
