Update: 18-07-2011 | 00:00:00

The Vietnamese national team defeated the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) with a score of 3-0 and took third prize at the 2011 International Women’s Volleyball Tournament for the VTV-Sun Group Cup, which ended in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak on July 16.

The Japanese student team won the championship title and US$8,000, after defeating Beijing (China) with a score of 3-0.

This is the third time Vietnam has competed for third position in the event. In 2004, Vietnam lost before China and didn't get third prize, but in 2008, the team gained a victory over Australia and placed third.

The best player award went to Manamoto Asuka (Japan), the best server prize was given to Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa (Vietnam) and Ji Jung Hee (the Republic of Korea) was named the tournament beauty queen.
