Vietnam grasps three gold medals at Asian junior chess champs

 After its six-day competition, the Asian Junior Chess Championships 2010 closed in Beijing, China on July 14.

 

Vietnamese chess team successfully competed at the tournament with three gold medals grasped by Nguyen Anh Khoa, Vu Thi Dieu Ai and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung and one bronze medal belonging to Hoang Thi Nhu Y. The Chinese, Iranian and Mongolian teams also pocketed three gold individual medals each.

 

The tournament absorbed 428 chess players from 20 countries, including India, China, Vietnam, Iran, Mongolia…They competed in age groups, including U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18.

 

At the Asian Junior Chess Championships 2009, besides two gold individual medals snatched by Hoang Thi Nhu Y in the women’s U-16 and Pham Thanh Phuong Thao in the women’s U-10, Vietnam bagged one silver and one bronze individual medals as well as one gold, two silver and one bronze team medals.
